Madonna dropped the FIFA World Cup version of “Read My Lips” on Thursday, and she brought Colombian reggaeton star Feid along for it. The track is live on all major streaming platforms through Interscope Records. Fam, this one’s got some real history behind it.

The original “Read My Lips” came out in 1989. That’s 37 years ago. Madonna is reaching back into her catalog and giving the track a full reimagining for the biggest soccer tournament on the planet. She didn’t just slap a new name on an old record. This is a genuine collaboration built around a new audience and a new era.

Feid is the key piece of this release. The Colombian artist has been one of the most-streamed names in Latin music for the past few years. His sound lives at the crossroads of reggaeton and trap. His fanbase covers Latin America, Europe, and a growing chunk of the United States. He’s been putting up serious numbers on his own, and pairing him with Madonna on a World Cup track is a move that makes sense from every angle.

Two different generations. One shared moment.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup is being hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada. That North American footprint makes the Latin music angle on this collaboration especially sharp. Feid’s audience already spans a lot of those markets. The World Cup gives both artists a stage far bigger than their individual fan bases.

Madonna’s Instagram post had the song title, “available now,” a purple heart emoji, and tags for Feid and the FIFA World Cup account. No big rollout. No months of teasers. The post still pulled over 380,000 likes.

For Madonna, this fits a long pattern of connecting her name to major global moments. She’s one of the only artists from the 1980s still landing this kind of cultural placement. Super Bowl halftime shows, film soundtracks, global brand partnerships. She’s been deliberate about staying relevant. Her career now spans more than four decades.

For Feid, this is a meaningful step up. He’s been on a steady climb, earning recognition across markets and building a reputation as one of Latin music’s most consistent performers. A joint release with Madonna on a FIFA platform puts him in front of new audiences. Some of them may not have found him through reggaeton playlists or Latin radio. That’s a real introduction on a global scale.

World Cup anthems have a history of outlasting the tournaments they were made for. The best ones get played in stadiums, bars, and living rooms long after the final whistle. Whether “Read My Lips” earns that kind of shelf life is still to be determined. But with Madonna’s legacy and Feid’s current momentum, this collaboration has a real shot at sticking around.

Go stream it now, fam. This one’s worth a few plays.
