Grand Theft Auto 6’s release date is almost here, and excitement has never been greater. Fans of the series have been waiting for this release for over a decade, and the slow trickle of information — just two trailers in as many years — has only fueled the rampant speculation.
With a release just a few months away and preorder availability already underway, now’s the time to board the GTA 6 hype train before it pulls out of the station. In case you missed any major news, here’s everything you need to know about GTA 6 ahead of its release.
GTA 6 Release Date
GTA 6 comes out on Thursday, November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles. Spokespeople for Rockstar have repeatedly affirmed that the November release date is here to stay, despite recurring fears of delays. As of yet, there is no release date or official confirmation for a PC version of GTA 6, or the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 port.
November 19 has been GTA’s official release date since last fall. It was originally slated for release before the end of 2025, but has since been subject to two delays: first, it was pushed out of 2025 to May 2026, before finally settling on November of this year.
GTA 6 Trailers
To date, GTA 6 has gotten two trailers. The first, which you can watch above, abruptly appeared on YouTube on the Morning of December 4, 2023. This officially confirmed the series’ return to the Miami-inspired Vice City, and gave us our first look at its updated map and our protagonists, Lucia and Jason, along with a few vague hints towards some story beats about trust.
Notably, this trailer also focused on the colorful cast of side characters who inhabit Vice City, who are featured in faux social media clips throughout. It largely served as an introduction to the world of GTA 6, while the second trailer was all about the story.
Trailer 2 followed on May 6, 2025, after a great deal of speculation. The second trailer gave us a lot more footage of Lucia and Jason in action, and was released in conjunction with a series of images and bios for some of GTA 6’s major characters. This trailer also served to confirm the first delay, culminating in the reveal of the May 2026 release date.
For the time being, those are all the trailers we’ve gotten. Its cover art was revealed in a very brief teaser on June 18, 2026. Notably, we still haven’t seen any real gameplay footage of GTA 6, at least not as of the time of writing.
GTA 6 Price
Although rumors initially put GTA 6’s price as high as $100, the final number was confirmed with the launch of preorders. The Standard Edition of GTA 6 will cost you $79.99, and the Ultimate Edition $99.99.
It’s not unheard of for deluxe editions of major releases to run at $100, but this is still a relatively high cost, even as the industry has trended towards $70 price tags for major releases. Nintendo was the first publisher to institute the $80 standard, pricing its Switch 2 launch title Mario Kart World at $79.99, and GTA 6 is the latest to follow suit.
GTA 6 Preorder Details
Preorders for GTA 6 are available now, having begun on June 25 following the reveal of the cover art. You can preorder either the Standard or Ultimate Edition from your preferred game storefront or third-party retailer between now and November 20.
All preorder purchases, regardless of edition or platform, will come with a free DLC called the Vice City Vintage Pack. This is a collection of (mostly) cosmetics that includes:
Linen suit for Jason
Red sequin mini dress for Lucia
Mullet hairstyle for Jason
Curl hairstyle for Lucia
’55 Vapid Stainer vehicle
Palm tree weapon pattern
Ocean Beach garage
One-month subscription to GTA+
Other than the cosmetics, this preorder bonus does include a couple of items that impact gameplay: the ’55 Vapid Stainer vehicle, and an extra garage by Ocean Beach. The Stainer is a vintage car that appears to be inspired by the two-tone Oceanic, which featured in GTA: Vice City.
Speaking of Vice City-inspired bonuses, the exclusive weapon skin draws on the palm tree shirt worn by the game’s protagonist, Tommy Vercetti. The cosmetics, too, are decidedly ’80s, another one of many ways GTA 6 is hearkening back to its setting’s roots.
You’ll also get a free month of GTA+, which is Rockstar’s premium membership service. This includes special in-game bonuses in GTA Online, which will not launch with GTA 6, but can be redeemed in the GTA 5 version if you’re so inclined. You’ll also be able to access a library of Rockstar games as part of the subscription, including GTA Online itself, as well as single-player GTA 5, GTA 3, Vice City, San Andreas, Red Dead Redemption, LA Noire, Bully, and more.
GTA 6 Standard & Ultimate Edition Differences
Although you’ll get the preorder bonus no matter what edition you buy, naturally, there are some things included with the $100 Ultimate Edition of GTA 6 that you just don’t get with the $80 Standard Edition. The Ultimate Edition bonuses are as follows. Note that these are all in-game bonuses and there’s no confirmed physical reward for buying the Ultimate Edition.
’95 Grotti Cheetah vehicle
Hawk & Little Morgan Revolver
Personalized weapon variants for Jason’s Girardi ES9 pistol and Lucia’s Klose K17 pistol
Exclusive Vice City-themed outfits, hairstyles, tattoos, and other cosmetics
Army fatigue design Dinka Enduro motorcycle
Crest kayak
Exclusive mods for Jason’s Vapid Ganado pickup truck
Shitzu Squalo boat
’67 Vapid Dominator buggy
Paradise Garage (Watson Bay)
Exclusive Macca the Alligator apparel and accessories
Pit Youngin$ compound raid mission
Classic car collection missions
Rideout Customs shop
Sara’s Unisex Salon
Stock 305 clothing shop
Electric Fang tattoo shop
One-Eyed WIllie’s auto shop
It’s a staggering list and, rather controversially, includes gameplay content that’s locked behind a more expensive purchase. Other than that, you’ll get a few extra weapons, vehicles, and customization options with the Ultimate Edition.
Also of note: GTA 6 will not have a physical edition at launch. It’ll be available via digital downloads only. Even if you do purchase a “physical” copy at a brick and mortar retailer, you’ll just receive a box with a code in it that allows you to activate your license and download the game.
That’s all we know about the year’s biggest gaming release for now. We’ll have to wait until Grand Theft Auto 6’s November 19 release date to find out more.
