House of the Dragon Season 3 finally introduces Daeron Targaryen, but his hair color has caused a bit of a stir online. Unlike his siblings or other Targaryens, his hair is not the traditional silver color. Despite his brief appearance in the premiere, fans noticed the change and took to social media to express their opinions.

Fans react to Daeron Targaryen’s debut in House of the Dragon Season 3
After a two-year hiatus, House of the Dragon returned with an explosive premiere episode, starting Season 3 on a high note. Amid all the battles and political plays, the show introduced Daeron Targaryen, who had been missing from earlier seasons.
During the scene where Ormund receives a letter from Alicent to make camp, Daeron stood quietly behind the lord. Only when he was asked to treat the messenger with care did he come to focus. In this very brief moment, the character was seen with brown hair.
This is a major change from the source material, where the character was described to have Targaryen’s signature silver hair. After the episode aired, viewers took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their opinions on the change, while hoping it was a wig.
For context, Daeron is the youngest child of Viserys Targaryen and Alicent Hightower. When he was still a young boy, Alicent sent him away to serve as a squire to her cousin, Ormund Hightower. With Ormund now becoming a more prominent part of the story, Daeron finally made an appearance.
Along with Daeron, the show also introduced his blue-skinned she-dragon, Tessarion. The two play important roles in the Dance of the Dragon story. Especially since Daeron is also in line to inherit the Iron Throne, he poses a major problem for Rhaenyra Targaryen, his half-sister. So, they are expected to have more screen time in the coming weeks.
The next episode of House of the Dragon Season 3 airs on June 28, 2026, on HBO Max.
