Adam Driver has broken his silence on Lena Dunham’s claims about his behavior on the set of Girls. In her recently released memoir, Dunham alleged that Driver had been “verbally aggressive” on multiple occasions while filming the show. The writer and actress also claimed that her Girls co-star had once thrown a chair near her.

At the Cannes press conference for his latest movie, Paper Tiger, Adam Driver was recently asked about the allegations that Lena Dunham has made about him, per Deadline. In response, the actor brushed off the claims, saying, “I have no comment on any of that.” Drawing chuckles from the room on Sunday, he further quipped, “I’m saving it all for my book.”
Dunham gave a detailed account of her experience working with Driver on the HBO comedy series Girls in her book Famesick (via Variety). “I remember doing a fight scene with Adam and how scary it was to meet someone so totally present with such absence,” she wrote.
The actress added, “Late one night, as we practiced lines in my trailer, I found that mine were suddenly gone. I knew I’d written them. I’d known them only minutes before. But when I opened my mouth, all that came out was a stammer — until finally, Adam screamed, ‘F**KING SAY SOMETHING’ and hurled a chair at the wall next to me.”
Dunham wrote that Driver “could be short-tempered and verbally aggressive, condescending and physically imposing. He could also be protective, loving even.” She also claimed that the BlacKkKlansman actor had once “punched a hole in his trailer wall” because he “hated his new haircut.”
In spite of the intense on-set moments, Dunham stated that she and Driver “still felt like partners” while filming the first season of Girls.
Meanwhile, Driver returns to the big screen in the new crime drama movie Paper Tiger. Directed by James Gray, the movie also stars Scarlett Johansson, Miles Teller, Gavin Goudey, and more.
