Marvel Studios hasn’t officially revealed a single cast member for its upcoming X-Men reboot, but that hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from kicking into high gear.
The latest report is a pretty interesting one because it points to a major Star Wars actor stepping into the MCU, and if it ends up being true, fans are going to have plenty to talk about.
According to scooper MyTimeToShineHello, Adam Driver, best known for playing Kylo Ren in the Star Wars sequel trilogy, has reportedly been cast as the villain in Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men movie.
Before anyone gets too carried away, this is still just a rumor. Marvel Studios hasn’t confirmed Driver’s involvement in the project, and the report doesn’t reveal which villain he would supposedly be playing.
That mystery makes the rumor even more fun to speculate about. Not too long ago, the same scooper claimed that Wagner Moura was Marvel Studios’ top choice to play Mister Sinister.
If this latest Adam Driver rumor turns out to be accurate, it could mean a couple of things. Either Mister Sinister isn’t actually the reboot’s main villain, or Driver has become Marvel’s preferred choice for the role instead. At this point, it’s all speculation because the studio hasn’t officially announced any casting for the film.
There’s also a rumor that he could end up playing Magneto, which would be a very interesting casting choice.
Casting rumors surrounding the mutants have been popping up at a steady pace recently. Reports have suggested that Inde Navarrette and Odessa A’zion are among Marvel’s top choices for a key role in the reboot.
Meanwhile, Sadie Sink has been rumored to be playing Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, and she could potentially be joined by another Stranger Things star when the X-Men franchise finally arrives in the MCU.
Even though the reboot is still a mystery, fans won’t have to wait much longer to see mutants back on the big screen. This year’s Avengers: Doomsday will reunite several legacy X-Men characters, marking the first time the X-Men, the Avengers, and the Fantastic Four all appear together in a live-action Marvel movie.
Marvel is also currently airing the second season of X-Men ’97 on Disney+, giving fans another dose of mutant action while they wait for the next generation of the team to make its MCU debut.
If Adam Driver really is joining the X-Men reboot, he’ll instantly become one of the most talked-about additions to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Whether he’s playing Mister Sinister or someone completely unexpected, it’s an exciting rumor. For now, though, it’s still just that: a rumor, and we’ll have to wait for Marvel Studios to make things official.
