Wendy and Eddie Osefo Accused of Running Identity Fraud Scheme With 40 Credit Cards – They Used Various Aliases!

Prosecutors claim that Real Housewives of Potomac star Wendy Osefo and her husband Eddie used aliases and managed more than 40 credit and debit cards as their fraud case continues to intensify.

Defense attorneys for the Osefos argued that Carroll County prosecutors were embarking on a “fishing expedition” by seeking additional banking records. The couple was indicted last month on charges that they staged a burglary at their home to falsely claim insurance losses, and their legal team is asking the court to quash the subpoenas.

Prosecutors fired back in newly filed documents, alleging that Wendy and Eddie have “approximately 40 credit and/or debit cards, some of which are believed to be in company names,” and that the pair has used the aliases “Pam Oliver” and “Eddie Hennessy” in what they claim was a “deliberate attempt to mask their identity.”

They also accused Wendy of falsely denying that she used PayPal, Venmo, or Cash App to pay for jewelry.

“The state anticipates seeing purchases as well as returns on the financial records,” prosecutors wrote. “Additionally, the State expects such documentation to show a pattern of excessive spending, supporting motive in this case. The State avers that insurance fraud is a financial crime, and in that, the amount of debt owed by the Osefos, jointly, individually and by the businesses that they own, is highly relevant to their motive.” Eddie Osefo’s attorney, Joseph Murtha, pushed back, calling the requests overly broad and questioning their timing.

He said prosecutors were “looking for something they haven’t figured out after 18 months of investigating,” adding that police never contacted the couple “from the time of the break-in until they were charged criminally.”

Circuit Court Judge Brian DeLeonardo will consider the subpoena dispute during a status hearing set for December 2. Investigators accessed several Gmail accounts tied to Wendy and Eddie — plus a third Gmail address that didn’t match either of their names — using a search and seizure warrant served on Google. They  also pulled data from Wendy’s Instagram accounts @thedrwendyshow and @wendyosefo after noticing she wore a ring she had previously reported stolen.

Additional warrants targeted her Apple ID, a TextNow number, and home security accounts with Ring Protect and ADT. Prosecutors further collected bank records from Ally Bank, American Express, and Capital One, along with information from luxury retailers like Van Cleef, Louis Vuitton, Saks, and Ascot Diamonds.

The Osefos were indicted by a Carroll County grand jury on seven counts of insurance fraud, eight counts of conspiracy to commit insurance fraud, and one count of making a false statement to a police officer. The charges stem from an alleged burglary at their home on April 7, 2024. At the time, the couple told deputies that thieves ransacked their bedroom and closets while they vacationed in Jamaica, stealing roughly $450,000 in designer handbags and jewelry.

Authorities raised doubts early on. Court filings state that investigators determined several of the items reported stolen had actually been returned to stores for refunds prior to the alleged break-in. Prosecutors also wrote that the investigation “revealed the Osefos to be burdened by substantial debt.”

The couple was released on $50,000 bond each. Although the alleged burglary hasn’t been a major storyline on the currently airing Season 10 of RHOP, Wendy did say in a recent episode that she and Eddie were spending approximately $100,000 on renovations to their home.

At BravoCon last weekend, Wendy addressed the situation briefly while speaking onstage. “It’s an unfortunate situation, and right now I can’t say too much, but I will say when the time is right I will share my story with everyone,” she told fans. “And for now they’re just allegations, so we will continue to push forward.”

She ended by thanking viewers for their support.
