Box Office: ‘Now You See Me 3’ Captures First Place With $21.3 Million, ‘Running Man’ Stumbles With $17 Million Debut https://t.co/d3LZfY4Rx9

In a weekend with a couple of big premieres, a group of magicians in their third outing bested Edgar Wright’s first Stephen King adaptation. Now You See Me: Now You Don’t picked up $21.3 million domestically and $54.2 million internationally on a $90 million budget, bringing it to the top spot at the box office despite the franchise taking a nine year break between films.

Paramount’s The Running Man, a new adaptation of the King novel, did not deliver at the box office, making $17 million domestically and $11.2 million internationally, for a total of $28.2 million on a $110 milion dollar budget. This is the first real disappointment at the box office for Glen Powell, and marks two misses at the box office in a row for Edgar Wright, whose Last Night in Soho did not fare well either.

Predator: Badlands, which easily won last weekend, fell a surprisingly steep 68% at the box office in its second outing, bringing in only $13 million domestically, well under projections. So far, the film has made $136.3 million on a $105 million budget.

Keeper, the latest horror film from Osgood Perkins, came in 7th place with a $2.5 million take on a $6 million budget. The film was received harshly by critics and audiences alike, earning a D+ cinemascore.

Regretting You and Black Phone 2 stayed in the top five for a fourth consecutive weekend, earning $4 million and $2.6 million, respectively. Regretting You has made $44.9 million domestically, while Black Phone 2 has pulled in $74.7 million.

Meanwhile, One Battle After Another has crossed the $200 million mark worldwide after eight weekends in theaters. With a budget of $140 million, it won’t be profitable theatrically, but the film looks to benefit from award nominations in the near future.
