However, besides the people who are dubbing the current season as ‘TV gold’ and ‘sweet lovely mess,’ there are others among the audience who are complaining that they have quit watching the show due to the choice of the cast members, the production, and so on.

The Real Housewives Polls, which is a very famous fan account, asked very straight forwardly to its followers not so long ago; ‘What are your thoughts about Season 6 of #RHOSLC so far this season?’ This snowy emoji accompanied the question and referred to the location of the show in Utah; it unleashed a flood of violent and passionate replies. Thus, the whole back-and-forth that happened was a great way to demonstrate that the people watching the season were absolutely not united.
The audience’s main reactions were for the most part in support of the show. One very ecstatic spectator called the season ‘TV GOLD,’ while another one described it as a ‘lovely messy mess.’ This was among the terms that were mainly used as praise in the world of reality television. Quite a few comments were just ‘Love it!’ or ‘A+’ ratings for the show, with one person even saying that Salt Lake City is one of their ‘top three housewives shows.’
But, still, not all the praises were equally loud. A common thing was that the monthly housewives were criticized for being singled out and a certain character’s downfalls being too much in the spotlight whether they wanted it done or not. Lisa Barlow was the leading actress in this part of the show. One user wrote, ‘Lisa gets on my last nerve!!’ Another person was even more straightforward, saying, ‘Lisa and Meredith need to be fired!!!’ The insults, however, were not meant for Lisa Barlow alone. Another user came up with Heather Gay and called her ‘a snake!’
Mary Cosby’s character, who has always been controversial, still gets attention, but her reception is mixed. One viewer was at her highest expressing, ‘I love, love, love Mary. She’s the voice of reason. I would like and trust her as a friend.’ Another was of the same thought and said that Mary is ‘the only reason I watch,’ and they even acknowledged humorously that they fast-forward through most of the other content.
Moreover, not only cast members but also some audiences were dissatisfied with the production and editing of the show. The detailed exchange that occurred among users voiced the opinion of the over-reliance on themes and childish editing. One person expressed their displeasure, ‘I really hate the childish editing, and the Easter bunny edit for one when Angie K sent out Easter invites was f stupid.’ Another user added by stating that the constant themes were a disadvantage, and proclaimed, ‘a theme is fun and cute every so often. Not every other episode.’ Next, a viewer gave a robust counter and said that the critic was being too harsh, ‘Ur so boring😭😭😭 It was campy and fun pls pull that stick out of ur ass.’
The dynamics of the group, however, for some viewers, were the reason of their discontent. Britani Bateman was critiqued by one person for her behavior suggesting that she was ‘brainwashed by the mean girl gang’ after, indeed, being initially treated poorly. Another user made a like comment saying the group got on one person’s case and he/she is not who he/she finds ruining the entire show. So, he/she has stopped watching.
Opinions about the season varied greatly, and some were more polite than others. ‘Okay so far’ was how one user described the season, while another said it was ‘good, but not a must-watch TV.’ The debate also included Meredith Marks since one commenter said, ‘Meredith should be quite thankful to Brittnie for a storyline. Mary is right she is a snooze.’

The multiplicity and variability of reactions to just one question show how complex the relationship between spectators and long-lasting reality series is. The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City never fails to attract attention and provoke strong reactions, but it is quite clear that Season Six has not been a universally satisfying one. The division of the audience shows that the show is at a turning point, many people love it for the drama that has always been its signature yet at the same time, others are irritated by its kind of conflict and production choices. The final verdict on the season will probably remain mixed throughout its run.
