The 27-year-old actress shot to fame playing Dr. Trinity Santos in the hit HBO medical drama but The Pitt’s popularity appears to be bleeding into her work on stage musical Just in Time as audience members have been shouting references to the series while she’s on stage – and Isa has now shared a candid message on Instagram telling them to stop.
In her post, Isa wrote: “Hey hey hey! Once again, Broadway is not a circus. Do not yell whatever you want at the performers. Yelling ‘When are you going to finish your charts’ before I sing ‘Who’s Sorry Now’ is so f****** disrespectful to the performers onstage and your fellow audience members. Y’all are p*****’’ me off.
“Love and light and please remember you are occupying shared spaces and watching art.”
Isa has been performing the role of Connie Francis in Just in Time – based on the hits of singer/songwriter Bobby Darin – since April.
It comes after Isa revealed many of The Pitt’s devoted followers can’t seem to separate her from the character and she’s confessed the “extreme” backlash been tough for her mental health.
Isa told Rolling Stone magazine: “A lot of people have a hard time separating the actor from the character. It’s definitely gotten to an extreme degree for me.
“I’ve never experienced this before, because I haven’t been on a show this massive before. And it can be troubling.
“We shoot the show for most of the year, and get locked into that. Then to go out into the world and people are like: ‘I hate you. You’re a b****’ – that’s crazy. “For someone who already struggles with mental health issues and with dissociating and thinking ‘I don’t know what’s real anymore’, it’s hard and a little strange.
“It’s like ‘Am I not a real person?’ But I also understand that is the one way that people are connecting with me and what they see onscreen. They’ve connected with this character in some way. And that’s very special.”
