The social world she had spent years building was gone. The athletic infrastructure was gone. The person she had learned to be in Mexico did not have an obvious place to exist in the new context. Depression arrived. The years were hard in ways that resisted easy resolution. There was no quick fix available, no short-term maneuver that would restore what had been lost. There was only the long game, played in circumstances that had not been chosen, with whatever she had brought across the border.
The pandemic arrived later and forced a version of that same reckoning on a global scale. For Saenz, who had already navigated one total disruption of her external world, the stillness was familiar in its demands if not in its form. She stepped back from what was not serving her. She made decisions that were oriented toward where she wanted to be rather than where she currently was. And then, without announcing it as a strategy, she began building.
The content career she has constructed now spans nearly one million Instagram followers, active audiences across TikTok, Snapchat, YouTube, and X, and a growing brand partnership portfolio that reflects the kind of audience trust that cannot be manufactured quickly. She is 21. The career is young. The thinking behind it is not.
Long-term orientation is not a personality trait. It is a skill, and like most skills it is developed through practice under conditions that make the alternative genuinely tempting.
