Enchanted

Naples-born pianist Armanda Desidery‘s latest album Incanti e Disincanti, which apparently translates as ‘enchantments and disenchantments’.
Well, no prizes for guessing which one of those two categories describes our reaction on being offered a chance to share the album’s powerful opener ‘Savana’ with the Juno Daily public.
A sophisticated conversation between Mediterranean warmth, Latin spirit and European art music, Incanti e Disincanti features 19 world-class musicians across 11 tracks. Our reviewer describes ‘Savana’ as being blessed with “expansive, sunlit ambition” and the album as “contemporary Latin jazz of the highest order” – and we’re not going to disagree.
Desidery told us: “‘Savana’ was born out of the need to blend my passion for Afro-Cuban music with my Neapolitan roots. It’s a track where the distinctive essences of Cuban timba and jazz come together. I wrote it during a carefree time in my life, and it captures a personal moment of lightness and vitality.”
