Pokémon Scarlet and Violet will be getting a new update soon, and that unfortunately means one incredibly rare Pokémon will no longer be available to obtain. The good news is that the update isn’t available until August 6, meaning there’s about 24 more hours for players to grab this rare ‘Mon in the Gen 9 games.
Since launch, Pokémon Scarlet and Violet have offered up various free Mystery Gifts and Raid Battles to keep players engaged. We’ve seen the return of First Partner Pokémon raids, for example, earlier this year, offering up Pokémon like Venusaur and Charizard with the Mightiest Mark. More recently, a 7-star Raid tied to Mightiest Mark Magikarp has been available.
The Magikarp Tera Raid runs from Thursday, July 16, 2026, at 5:00 pm PT until Thursday, August 6, 2026, at 4:59 pm PT in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. This event means players can search the Paldea region for the Dragon-type Magikarp with the Mightiest Mark as well as catch various Water-type Pokémon and discover special Mass Outbreaks.The DLC areas of Kitakami, and the Terarium at Blueberry Academy will also have those spawns.
The biggest draw for the event, of course, is the Dragon-Tera Type Magikarp with the Mightiest Mark that’s a part of the 7-Star Tera Raid battle. This special Pokémon will vanish once the next update for Scarlet and Violet arrives, so if you want this ultra rare Magikarp, you’ll need to grab it before August 6 at 4:59 pm PT/7:59 pm ET.
The good news is that while Mightiest Mark Magikarp is leaving, a new 7-Star Raid series will be beginning when the new update drops. This new Tera Raid Battle features Glimmora as the Raid Boss, and yes, the Grass Tera-type comes with the Mightiest Mark if you manage to defeat it. There will also be Mass Outbreaks of Glimmet and Glimmora.
After this, expect weekly new Raids across the month of August, featuring Raid Bosses on Annihilape, Farigiraf, and Kingambit, with the final raid ending on September 3, 2026. Each of these comes with the Mightiest Mark for beating it, so you’ll get to nab some pretty rare Pokémon in the process.
Right now, these are the only Tera Raid Battles announced, but expect more once September rolls around. It looks like Pokémon is slowly phasing out Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, which makes sense given that Legends: Z-A launched last year and Gen 10’s Wind and Waves come out in 2027, but it’s still nice to see some love for Gen 9 regardless.
