Brainstorm Media has dropped the official trailer for The Summoning, where mirror rituals get a whole lot more dangerous. They have also announced the release date.
The Summoning’s scary trailer revealed with digital release date
The first full trailer for The Summoning has been released, confirming a June 5 video-on-demand debut. Directed by Felipe Vargas, Sergio Gonzalez, Brandon Piskorik, Corey Benson Powers, and Brian Sepanzyk, the film draws on the familiar urban legend of summoning a spirit through a mirror. What begins as a routine babysitting job turns into a desperate fight for survival.
As the official synopsis states, “A babysitting gig becomes a nightmare of urban legend when three teens summon Baby Blue. Survival depends on uncovering the past to escape a mother’s wrath from beyond the grave.”
The Summoning’s trailer establishes the same from its opening frames. A group of teenagers performs a ritual tied to an entity called “Baby Blue.” To summon the spirit, participants must chant “Baby blue, blue baby” thirteen times while facing a mirror. The rule is non-negotiable, and the trailer makes clear that the consequences of completing the chant are immediate and violent.
The directors avoid revealing the entity in close view, instead offering fractured glimpses: elongated mouths, distorted faces, and children moving with unnatural precision. The editing grows increasingly frantic as the teaser progresses, intercutting screams, jumping off the roof, and rapid flashes of what happens when you chant Baby Blue.
The Summoning stars Valeria San Martín, Justina Ceballos, Daniela Flombaum, and Agustín Olcese. It is written by Camilo Zaffora as the production draws stylistic influence from recent supernatural hits such as Smile and Talk to Me, as well as the mirror-based horror of Candyman.
So, for audiences seeking folklore-driven horror that prioritises dread over spectacle, The Summoning seemingly looks like it will deliver precisely that. The film will be available on digital from June 5.
