Twenty years after first bringing his father’s groundbreaking music back to concert stages, Dweezil Zappa will mark the milestone later this year with his all- new DZ20: Like Father, Like Son Tour. The extensive North American trek launches October 22 in Phoenix and concludes December 5 in Las Vegas and celebrates two decades since Dweezil began honoring and reimagining the beloved and influential catalog of Frank Zappa.
Throughout his own career, Dweezil has built a reputation as both a masterful guitarist and a devoted curator of his father’s notoriously demanding catalog. What started as a personal connection to his dad’s music has evolved into an unrivaled live experience. These shows are a place where longtime Zappa devotees and younger curiosity seekers can come together to revel in the complexity, humor, and adventurous spirit that shaped Frank Zappa’s musical legacy.

Rather than simply recreate his dad’s classic material, Dweezil and his handpicked ensemble put their own remarkable stamp on Frank’s songs. With imaginative arrangements, unexpected song selections, and improvisational twists, these performances will pull from rock, jazz, orchestral, fusion, and experimental traditions.
Dweezil’s ever-evolving concerts promise to balance faithful interpretation with musical reinvention. Or as Dweezil explains, “The songs you think you know may just end up surprising you with parts you’ve never heard before.”
The DZ20: Like Father, Like Son Tour shows feature more than two hours of music spanning Frank Zappa’s expansive career. Dweezil pledges an evening of fan favorites, deep cuts and spontaneous moments — all resulting from his two decades performing music from the Zappa canon.
“It’s been an incredible experience spending 20 years playing music that continues to challenge and inspire me,” Dweezil says. “Every tour gives me a chance to revisit my father’s work from a new perspective while finding ways to surprise audiences — and myself. Whether you’ve followed this music for years or are hearing it for the first time, there’s always something new to discover.”

Beyond the performances themselves, the tour will also offer fans an expanded VIP experience that includes pre-show soundcheck access, live mixing demonstrations, and select side-stage viewing opportunities. These fan experiences intended to provide a closer look at the precision and spontaneity that goes into the DZ20: Like Father, Like Son Tour.
In addition to the aforementioned Phoenix and Las Vegas tour opening and closing dates, the 2026 North American trek counts stops in Chicago, New York, Toronto, Los Angeles, and Seattle.
