Lady Victoria Beckham has learned to “accept” her appearance after decades of being hard on herself.
Victoria Beckham is kinder to herself
The 52-year-old singer-turned-designer insisted hitting her 50s didn’t mean it was time to “give up” on taking care of herself and one of the best things about getting older has been learning to be kinder to herself.
She told Sunday Times Style’s The Beauty Desk: “I’ve spent most of my life feeling that I am not good enough and not liking how I look. I think the great thing about getting older is I now accept the way that I look. It’s better than the alternative, let’s be honest.
“I also don’t think you have to give up just because you’re 50. That doesn’t mean you have to compromise. You can still look good.”
The former Spice Girls star doesn’t care about people scrutinising the way she looks any more either.
She said: “The great thing about getting older is you really care less about what other people think. I can own the narrative now.”
When it comes to fitness, Victoria has no plans to slow down or change her exercise routine in her 50s.
She said: “I don’t do anything differently now with regards to my workout. In fact, I do more now than what I was doing when I was 20 and 30. Just because you get older, it doesn’t mean you’re limited to what you can do. You can achieve great things as you get older.”
And the fashion-and-beauty mogul – who has children Brooklyn, 27, Romeo, 23, Cruz, 21, and 14-year-old Harper with husband Sir David Beckham – branded “anti-aging” beauty products simply “a good marketing line.”
She said: “I don’t believe that anything topical can stop the aging process, right? Unless I’m missing something. So I think it’s quite negative.”
Victoria previously told how her Victoria Beckham Beauty product The Foundation Drops had been a “lifetime in the making” for her because she had always felt self-conscious about her skin.
She told British Vogue: “I have struggled with my skin my whole life… and I know how it feels not to feel confident. That’s why this product is so personal to me – I want other women to finally feel seen and understood.
“When I say it’s been a lifetime in the making, I mean it. I’ve worn make-up since I was far too young because I was so self-conscious about my acne – and I’ve been searching ever since for something that actually makes skin look and feel better. This is it.”
