Todd and Julie Chrisley are opening up about their future plans following their release from prison.

The “Chrisley Knows Best” stars, who were recently granted a pardon after serving time for tax evasion and fraud, revealed they hope to move back to their home state of South Carolina.

However, the couple admitted one major factor is keeping them in Nashville for now: production work on upcoming projects, including their new Lifetime reality series.

Recently, Todd spoke to PEOPLE Magazine about relocating back to Charleston, South Carolina, revealing that it remains a strong possibility.

However, he shared that his and Julie’s relocation was dependent on their career in reality TV.

“When are we going back to South Carolina? I think that’s going to depend on how things fall with production and other projects that we’re working on right now,” the Chrisley family patriarch said.

The couple, who originally hail from South Carolina, previously lived in the Atlanta suburbs before moving to Nashville, where they purchased a mansion in Brentwood.

While their hearts may be pulling them back to the coast, the Chrisleys acknowledged that their television commitments continue to shape their next steps.

While Todd Chrisley is envisioning Charleston, his wife, Julie, has embraced her new life in Nashville.

The 52-year-old described a simpler lifestyle after years of stress.

“So, for me, I am absolutely loving where I live. I can walk to restaurants, coffee shops, and a gazillion different gyms. I live a mile from my best friend, Tyler. So we’ll meet up [at] places,” she shared during the interview with PEOPLE.

Julie said that life had become so much more fun for her and admitted that she truly loved the change.

She explained that she finally felt like she could breathe again, since she no longer had all the maintenance she once had to deal with.

According to her, this new chapter represented a fresh start and a new beginning, something she was both excited about and deeply grateful to be living.

“This is just a new start and a new beginning that I’m so excited about and grateful that I’m able to live,” she said.

Part of their fresh start involves a television comeback.

Todd and Julie are set to star in a new Lifetime series titled “The Chrisleys: Back to Reality,” premiering September 1, 2025.

The show will document their release from prison and attempts to rebuild their lives in Tennessee.

The series is expected to capture their reunions with family, the challenges of moving forward, and the adjustments that come with starting over after being released from prison.

With filming already underway, Nashville remains their base, making a return to South Carolina less immediate.

Their work commitments are, for now, the central reason their relocation plans are on hold.

Todd Chrisley’s recent interview isn’t the first time he’s hinted at his and Julie’s relocation to South Carolina.

During an ABC News Studios special that aired on “Good Morning America” on June 30, the reality TV star shared, per PEOPLE, “I think we will always have a presence in Nashville, but I have a pull for Julie and I to go back to South Carolina — to Charleston — to that area.”

He added that they even had plans to acquire a mansion in Charleston and convert it into a hotel, which could also serve as the backdrop for a future television project.

Todd Chrisley Recounts His Greatest Nightmare

Although Todd has been a free man since May 27, 2025, he would rather go back to prison than watch his wife battle breast cancer.

As The Blast previously reported, the 56-year-old opened up about that trying time, which he described as the “darkest day of my life.”

“The darkest day of my life was when Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer. Not the death of my father. It was that day,” Todd recalled during the July 30 episode of the “Chrisley Confessions 2.0” podcast.

The businessman admitted that the news had left a lasting impact on him, saying he now suffers from intense PTSD because of it.

He explained to his partner of three decades that when people talk about PTSD and getting help, he knows he has it “because of that moment in our life.”

Todd described it as the most frightening experience he had ever faced, confessing, “That still is the heaviest situation I’ve ever dealt with.”

He further revealed that he would rather serve time in prison again than live through the fear of his wife’s medical diagnosis.

“I would take 28 months at FPC Pensacola any day of the week over that fear,” he admitted, explaining that prison gave him an exit date, while breast cancer forced him to live each day not knowing “when my exit date was.”
