Admitting the timing of her vaginoplasty left her worried the procedure would be misunderstood following the end of their 18-year marriage, the 47-year-old actress, author and comedian discussed the experience during an appearance on Kelly Ripa’s Let’s Talk Off Camera podcast.
Jenny explained Jason, 48, had only just moved out when she felt compelled to tell him she was about to undergo the procedure.
The candid comments come weeks after the former couple announced they had ended their marriage but remained on good terms as they continue to co-parent their two sons, Sid, 12, and Lazlo, eight.
Jenny, who has built a following through her books, social media and television appearances, met Jason while filming the 2008 comedy My Best Friend’s Girl, while Jason remains best known for the American Pie franchise, as well as films including Loser and Wedding Daze.
Jenny said: “I’m like, oh, f***, this is crazy because literally, and the timing was horrifying because, okay, Jason was moving out on a Friday and I didn’t mean for it to line up this way.”
She added: “I’m having a vagina surgery. I mean, it looks so bad for me.”
Laughing as she recalled the conversation, Jenny explained she had initially hesitated before sending the message.
She added she “didn’t want to tell” Jason because “it sounded shady” and “weird”.
Describing the operation, Jenny said: “I’m going under for two-and-a-half f****** hours. I was like, ‘Make this feel palatable’, but it was awful.”
She said there was one detail she felt would at least reassure her former husband.
Jenny added: “The one good thing I was able to tell him was, ‘I’m not allowed to have sex for eight weeks’.”
Although she did not reveal Jason’s response, Jenny joked everything now looked “even” following the procedure.
The couple announced their separation in May, with a representative saying they remain on good terms and are focused on raising their children together.
Earlier this week, Jenny also discussed the split during an appearance on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast with Amanda Hirsch, insisting that despite ending their marriage, their emotional bond remains intact.
She said: “We still love each other. It’s just not, I don’t know, it’s a different type of romance. It’s, like, your best friend.”
Jenny described the pair as “amazing” co-parents and called their relationship “solid”, while admitting returning to single life after nearly two decades together had felt “bizarre”.
Reflecting on how little had changed in their day-to-day communication, she said: “People will be like, ‘How does it feel?’ And I’m like, ‘I don’t know, the same?’ We live in two different places, but we’re still tethered. We have kids. We still talk 18 times a day about everyone’s schedule and after school and holidays.”
Jenny and Jason met while filming My Best Friend’s Girl in 2007.
They became engaged in January 2008 before eloping three months later, renewing their vows in Napa, California, later that year.
Last year, Jenny paid tribute to Jason in a birthday message on Instagram, sharing a photograph from his surprise 30th birthday celebration.
She wrote: “We were married and yet I still knew practically nothing about you. Like for example, the fact that you hate surprises. Luckily, we made it past that hurdle. Happy 47th, I promise I planned nothing.”
