The 2026 World Cup has officially started, and we’re about to go to the halfway point of the Group Stage, which will take place from June 11 to June 27. 48 teams, divided into 12 groups of four teams each, are currently competing for a chance to qualify for the Round of 32, also known as the knockout stage. As a co-host, the USA qualified instantly and was drafted into Group D alongside Paraguay, Australia, and Turkey.
So far, the US has started the World Cup on the right foot, winning its first match against Paraguay 4-1. Now, it’ll play its second match against Australia for the chance to place among the group’s top 2 teams and advance to the Round of 32, which will take place from June 28 to July 19. When and Where Will the USA Play Its Next Match at the 2026 World Cup?

Following a major 4-1 win against Paraguay during their first match, the USA currently sits atop Group D. Next, the USA will play against Australia on Friday, June 19 at 3:00 pm EST, on what will be Match 32 of the World Cup. The venue will be Lumen Field in Seattle, and the referee will be Germany’s Felix Zwayer.
The USA will then play its third and last match of the Group Stage against Turkey on June 25. To advance to the Round of 32, the USA will need to sit atop Group D or rank second. Should they place third, they could still advance, but that would depend on the overall third-place seeding. However, the possibilities of them advancing are quite high, so things are looking up for the co-host team.
