Eiza González stars in Boots Riley‘s I Love Boosters as Violeta and, following its premiere, shared praise for the filmmaker.
After the Neon film, which stars Keke Palmer, González took to social media to express her thoughts on the filmmaker and the movie.
“I Love Boosters is a movie I love deeply for many reasons,” González shared on Instagram.
She continued, “One being THE creator. @bootsriley whose mind and intellect knows no boundaries. Who doesn’t play by anyone’s rules and follows his vision with conviction. YOU INSPIRE ME.”
González’s second reason for loving I Love Boosters was because the film was an original movie and “movies this original aren’t made anymore,” adding, “A movie with a strong POV while having something to say and entertain simultaneously. @neonrated you absolutely rock for making it happen. Thank you!”
The actress also said that the cast the “most talented and kind” noting that “everyone showed up and showed down” and “excited to be there.”
“But personally I want to thank @bootsriley,” she said. “Thank you for seeing me as an artist and hearing my desire to push outside of the box. And just point-blank believing in me. It takes a director like you for others to see us differently, and very few times do we get the chance to try new stuff, and I will never forget you gave me this opportunity. I love you, and I ride for you fearlessly.”
González ended her message writing, “I loved playing Violeta everything she is and what she stands for. I am so proud of this movie and everyone involved.”
I Love Boosters follows a group of shoplifters who take aim at a cutthroat fashion maven by stealing her clothes and reselling them at a lower price. In addition to Palmer and González, the film also stars Demi Moore, LaKeith Stanfield, Naomi Ackie, Taylour Paige, Poppy Liu, Will Poulter, Jason Ritter, and Don Cheadle, among others.
González has had a busy year. In addition to I Love Boosters being released this year, she has also starred in Mike & Nick & Nick & Alice and In the Grey.
