Actor and comedian Chris Rock has joined Paul Rudd in the voice cast of Goodnight, Lamby, the live-action/animation hybrid short film from artist and filmmaker Dustin Yellin, who is writing and directing.
Produced by Darren Aronofsky and Justin A. Gonçalves, the film is debuting next week as part of the Cannes Classics lineup at the Cannes Film Festival and features an original song by Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, and producer Maggie Rogers.
The synopsis reads: “Three-year-old Zia searches for her missing stuffed Lamby through her father’s surreal sculpture-a vast world of oceans, caves, and outer space. Her quest becomes a journey of courage, wonder, and self-discovery.”
Rock plays ‘Copernipus’ alongside Rudd who stars as Papa’ and Zia Copernicus Yellin as ‘Zia’. Yellin is a Brooklyn-based artist whose work — described as “frozen cinema” — spans object making, painting, animation, and architecture. Goodnight, Lamby marks his directorial debut.
