Ben Stiller is launching a new soda brand inspired by his childhood love of Shirley Temples.
Ben Stiller has launched his own soda brand
The 59-year-old actor and director has unveiled his own Stiller’s Soda collection – which includes Root Beer, Lemon Lime and Shirley Temple flavours – which take inspiration from he and his sister Amy joining their parents Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara at nightclub performances in the ’70s and ’80s.
He told PEOPLE magazine: “Shirley Temples, in particular, were a big thing for me growing up…
“They were comedians, and we would be hanging out with grown-ups a lot.
“And when you’d be at a nightclub with grown-ups as a kid, you’d order Shirley Temple and you felt like you were kind of cool. And of course, because you couldn’t really drink anything else.”
The Zoolander star – who has co-founded the brand with food and beverage entrepreneur Alex Domam – almost named the drink Ben Shirley, but quickly changed his mind.
He added: “We thought, why don’t we do a few different flavors? And then it sort of evolved into this.
“I don’t drink, so I love having an option for soda for something to drink for adults too when you’re out.”
The Severance director – who has Ella, 23, and Quinlin, 20, with his wife Christine Taylor – admitted his son was brought on board to test out the drinks.
He said: “My son loves soda. When he asked to have a second Lemon Lime because he liked it so much, I felt like we were on the right track.”
The drinks are currently available in New York City and nationwide in Amazon’s US store, with plans to bring them to Walmart before the end of the year, and more retailers to follow across the US in 2026.
Ben added: “We’ve been working on it for about three years, and to finally get to this moment where we’re actually putting it out into the world is kind of surreal, and I’m super excited about it.”
