Alabama Barker has addressed recent criticism about her identity during a livestream, responding to accusations that she’s “trying to be Black.” The 18-year-old daughter of Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker firmly pushed back against the claims, saying her upbringing and musical influences shaped who she is today.

Alabama Barker Responds To Accusations That She’s “Trying To Be Black”
On Thursday, July 24, Alabama Barker appeared on a live stream with Jordyn Lucas, the conversation quickly took a personal turn. During their chat, Jordyn asked Alabama how she feels about ongoing criticism from people who say she’s “trying to act Black.” Alabama didn’t hold back in her response, admitting that the comments have been hurtful. “If people think I’m sitting in my room studying a voice, it’s delusional,” she said.
Furthermore, Alabama opened up about her upbringing. She shared that she grew up surrounded by mostly Black friends. While she did attend private school, she still felt out of place and spent much of her childhood on tour with her father .“My upbringing was rap and rock ’n’ roll. I don’t even know what pop is,” she said.
