With Peacemaker season 2 now in full swing and the DC Universe cementing itself as a franchise that’s here to stay, there’s been one question on everyone’s minds: where’s Blue Beetle? Xolo Maridueña was one of the few actors confirmed to reprise their roles in the reboot, alongside John Cena and Viola Davis, yet he remains the only one who hasn’t made an official return.
This has led many to wonder if the character is poised to return during the events of Peacemaker season 2. After all, James Gunn did promise a big cameo from another DC Universe project. While many assume this cameo would be someone like Superman or Lex Luthor, bringing in Xolo Maridueña for a small appearance that confirms Blue Beetle as a member of the Justice Gang could go a long way in settling hardcore fans’ continuity woes.
Is Xolo Maridueña In Peacemaker Season 2?
Xolo Maridueña was actually recently asked about the possibility of his return during a recent chat with the account Jenks Soda. The host asked if the actor had any reaction to the rumor that Blue Beetle would appear in Peacemaker season 2, especially following James Gunn teasing that fans may not be “out of luck.” And while Maridueña tried to dodge the question diplomatically, he certainly isn’t succeeding in quelling speculation.
“I don’t envy [James Gunn’s] position in having to, like, dodge diplomatically rumors left and right. There’s a couple of Blue Beetles. So I don’t know…I would just say that I know that there’s anticipation for- to bring all these people to the universe eventually. And when it comes to Peacemaker, I have always been the biggest fan of that dynamic of Jaime and Peacemaker.”
“So, you know, I’ll be watching alongside everyone else week by week. I have nothing to say to Peacemaker. I have nothing to say to this universe aside from the fact that I’m just a fan and really excited to see what the heck they got going on.”
While Xolo Maridueña tried his hardest, he certainly isn’t reaching the lofty peaks of Andrew Garfield lying about being in No Way Home. It’s certainly still possible that he isn’t in Peacemaker season 2, and he’ll only officially make his return as Blue Beetle in the upcoming animated series. Though if one was a betting man, it might be best to put all chips on blue!
