Does the X-Men finally have its Kitty Pryde? The latest rumor teases The Last Of Us star Bella Ramsey may be preparing to join the MCU’s mutant team.
Ever since it was confirmed that an X-Men reboot was officially in development for the MCU, the rumor mill has been absolutely awash with casting rumors. Almost every actor one could think of has been said to be up from some kind of role in the upcoming reboot, from Jack Champion as Cyclops to Daniel Day-Lewis as Magneto.
And that wave isn’t stopping today! The latest rumor from scooper MyTimeToShineHello suggests that actor Bella Ramsey is being considered to play Kitty Pryde in the MCU. Ramsey is best known for their role as Ellie in The Last Of Us, as well as their role as Lyanna Mormont in Game of Thrones. If cast, Ramsey would be the first nonbinary actor to take on a leading role in an X-Men film.
Is Bella Ramsey Playing Kitty Pryde?
As with any casting rumor, one should take this with a major grain of salt. The report says that Bella Ramsey is simply being “considered” for the role, suggesting that they haven’t been approached yet. The Last of Us star isn’t the only actor said to be up for the role of Kitty Pryde, either, as Jeff Sneider has previously reported Julia Butters as the frontrunner for the MCU’s X-Men reboot.
Interestingly enough, if this rumor is true, it would mean both actors to play Kitty Pryde in live-action would be trans. Bella Ramsey would be taking up the torch of the iconic X-Men from Elliot Page, who played Kitty Pryde in Fox’s X-Men universe, and who also came out as a transman in 2020. So while some fans may not enjoy The Last Of Us star taking on the role, it would, at the very least, be continuing the tradition into the MCU!
