The Summer I Turned Pretty has more story to tell in a surprise movie — but which alums are reprising their roles and which may not?
Based on Jenny Han‘s book series, Prime Video’s adaptation followed the love triangle between Belly (Lola Tung) and the Fisher brothers: Conrad (Chris Briney) and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). The Summer I Turned Pretty, It’s Not Summer Without You and We’ll Always Have Summer inspired the show’s three seasons, so imagine fans’ surprise when Han confirmed there was more content coming.
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due,” Han said in a September 2025 statement. “I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans.”
Viewers who read Han’s book know that the series finale omitted a pretty large chunk out of Belly’s story — her wedding to Conrad. In the epilogue, fans got to jump in time to Belly and Conrad’s special day, which didn’t make the cut on the show despite the fictional couple finding their way back to each other on screen.
Luckily, Prime Video announced the movie with a photo of Tung and Briney on a red carpet together, which confirmed they were reprising their roles. Us Weekly subsequently confirmed that Casalegno was also returning even though Belly and Jeremiah’s journey ended earlier in the season.

Lola Tung

Tung confirmed in September 2025 to Today that the cast knew the film was being planned, saying, “We’ve known for a little bit, but it’s fun that it’s finally out there in the world. I guess [Jenny] would know the most about it.”
Han, meanwhile, weighed in on the theory about Belly’s wedding to Conrad being featured on screen. I can say that there is another big milestone for Belly, so we’ll continue with that journey,” she added.
Christopher Briney

Briney will be bringing the internet’s favorite lover boy to life as Conrad and Belly’s story continues in the movie.
Gavin Casalegno

Us confirmed that Casalegno is returning as Jeremiah in the movie.
Sean Kaufman

Belly’s story wouldn’t be complete without her brother so Steven (and Kaufman) are expected to return.
Rain Spencer

The same goes for Belly’s best friend Taylor and Steven’s girlfriend. Their life in San Francisco would be a nice side plot in the movie.
Isabella Briggs

With Denise presumably still dating Jeremiah, Briggs is expected to return.
Jackie Chung

Chung, who plays Belly’s mother, was at the series finale event in Paris where the movie was announced, which fans are taking as a good sign.
Rachel Blanchard

It wouldn’t be a story about Belly and the Fisher brothers if their mom, Susannah, didn’t show up in some flashback form.
Tom Everett Scott

No news on Scott’s casting has been announced yet, but something tells Us Adam will show up to Conrad and Belly’s wedding with the champagne he gifted Belly and Jeremiah for their failed nuptials.
Colin Ferguson

If fans were wrong and that scene in season 3 wasn’t hinting at Belly’s father dying, then Ferguson likely would reappear in the movie.
