Apple TV may not drop dozens of shows a week, but every new release typically leaves a big impression. These three series prove why the platform is quietly dominating quality streaming right now – and they’re all easy to binge-watch in just a few sittings, making them top choices for the weekend.

Apple TV released several new series this month, such as The Last Frontier and Mr. Scorsese, both of which are great streaming options. It continues to find huge success with its Emmy-winning spy thriller series, Slow Horses, starring Gary Oldman. It’s also running new episodes of Knife Edge: Chasing Michelin Stars, a cooking competition reality series getting some trending buzz.

Above all, Apple TV has been mostly celebrated for its exceptional sci-fi series, like Severance, and light-hearted dramedies, like Ted Lasso. While these established shows are always reliable go-to options for Apple TV subscribers, Screen Rant’s TV expert has sorted out the three best shows worth binge-watching, specifically for this weekend, October 24–26, 2025.

Hijack

Apple TV released Hijack season 1 back in the summer of 2023, and just dropped the trailer for season 2, which is expected to come out in January 2026. The slow-burning thriller series, starring Idris Elba (Luther, A House of Dynamite) and Neil Maskell (Utopia, Peaky Blinders), is full of suspense and high-stakes action.

Season 1’s seven episodes chronicle a 7-hour flight from Dubai to London that’s been, as the title suggests, hijacked. Elba plays a seemingly ordinary man named Sam Nelson, who is secretly an experienced business negotiator. Sam tries to orchestrate a way to stop the hijacking while also keeping everyone on the plane safe. He’s a man with a plan, but some of his aggressive strategies risk putting others in danger – both in the air and on the ground.

Hijack received a strong Certified Fresh Rotten Tomatoes score of 90%. USA Today noted in their review, “It’s got a movie star, flashy plot twists, pulse-quickening action and a figurative ticking clock. It’s a nice little reminder that TV can be thrilling.” For fans of Elba, tuning into this series is a no-brainer. It will certainly get your adrenaline pumping and, like most Apple TV series, is gorgeous to look at.

Bad Monkey

Bad Monkey is one of the best comedy series on Apple TV, right up there with Shrinking and Platonic. Legendary funnyman Vince Vaughn leads the fantastic ensemble cast, which also features Michelle Monaghan, John Ortiz, Meredith Hagner, Rob Delaney, Zach Braff, Jodie Turner-Smith, Scott Glenn, and more.

Set in the Florida Keys, Bad Monkey is perfect tropical escapism for those dreading the impending drop in temperatures over the next few months. It’s also both thrilling and humorous, centered around a mysterious severed human arm found at sea, with a great lead performance from the effortlessly funny Vaughn.

Vaughn plays Andrew Yancy, a carefree Miami-based detective who fights to get his badge back after an incident places him on suspension, making him a temporary health inspector. As the plot unfolds, Yancy finds himself in the middle of a thick conspiracy, relying on the assistance of his former partner Rogelio (Ortiz) and a coroner named Rosa (Natalie Martinez) to discover the seeds of a corrupt operation.

Bad Monkey won over critics and fans alike, earning a Rotten Tomatoes score of 92%. The series is based on a 2013 novel by Carl Hiaasen and will return for season 2 in 2026. It was developed for TV by Bill Lawrence, known for Ted Lasso, Scrubs, Shrinking, and more. If you like any of these comedy shows, odds are you’ll find Bad Monkey wildly binge-worthy.

Presumed Innocent

Presumed Innocent emerged as one of the best new legal dramas of 2024 and was nominated for 4 Emmys, all of them in acting categories for its main cast – Jake Gyllenhaal, Peter Sarsgaard, Ruth Negga, and Bill Camp. The series also features notable performances by Chase Infinit (One Battle After Another), Elizabeth Marvel (House of Cards), and Renate Reinsve (The Worst Person in the World).

Based on a novel, Presumed Innocent was developed by David E. Kelly, known for a multitude of TV series like Big Little Lies, Ally McBeal, and Love & Death. Believe it or not, the series marked Gyllenhaal’s first-ever leading role in a TV series. The story was also made into a celebrated film starring Harrison Ford in 1990.

Presumed Innocent follows the gripping premise of a Chicago-based attorney named Rusty Sabich (Gyllenhaal) who is suspected of killing his colleague. Variety’s review noted, “Entirely watchable, Presumed Innocent is one of the best legal thrillers to arrive on television in years.” The series consists of 8 episodes, all 50 minutes or less, making it the perfect length for a weekend binge-watch on Apple TV.
