Tony & Ziva’ Episode 1 Put Michael Weatherly and Cote de Pablo Back on the Case

NCIS: Tony & Ziva fans at San Diego Comic Con not only got the chance to see a fresh new trailer for the upcoming NCIS spin-off, premiering on Paramount+ September 4, but they also got a chance to see the first ten minutes of the very first episode “No Country Is Safe.” Collider’s Meredith Loftus was in attendance for the presentation, which included a panel with leads Cote de Pablo and Michael Weatherly, as well as showrunner John McNamara. It was moderated by NCIS’ Brian Dietzen.

Loftus describes the first ten minutes beginning in Budapest. Tony DiNozzo (Weatherly) is doing what he does best, and chaotically arriving on scene. He meets up, in a tux, with Ziva David (de Pablo), who’s wearing a wedding dress. Tony tells Ziva that she looks incredible and Ziva insists they get it over with. As Ziva walks down the aisle for whatever inevitable rouse they’re pulling, Tony is casing the venue. And just as both he and the woman he notices pull their guns, it flashes back to over a week before in Paris. The woman steals money from an Interpol agent and then Tony is informed that money has been wired to his security firm. Now in a chase with the cops, a fight scene ensues including an associate of Tony’s, Claudette, played by Amita Suman, who is the same woman that told him about the money transfer. Eventually, the woman pulls a gun on Claudette, but flees. Claudette later finds a flash drive that ends a cyberattack. Tony is eventually freed from Interpol custody when the cyberattack is averted and Claudette hides the flash drive in her mouth.
