Americana singer/songwriter Todd Snider has been forced to cancel his High, Lonesome and Then Some 2025 tour dates, after he was the victim of an assault prior to a show in Salt Lake City, Utah.

According to a post from Aimless Inc. on Snider’s Instagram, prior to his concert at The Commonwealth Room in Salt Lake City, Utah, which had been slated for Saturday night, Snider “sustained severe injuries as the victim of a violent assault outside of his hotel.”

The statement added, “Todd will be unable to perform for an undetermined amount of time. We deeply apologize for the cancellation and any inconvenience it causes. We appreciate your understanding as Todd receives needed medical treatment.” The statement added that his team hopes to have additional information on new tour dates soon.

A rep for Snider confirmed the incident to Billboard, but offered no additional details.

Snider’s High, Lonesome and Then Some Tour launched Thursday in Englewood, Colorado, and was in support of Snider’s recent album High, Lonesome and Then Some, which released last month on Aimless Records/Thirty Tigers.

Snider is known for solo albums that blend keen cultural observations and deeply detailed lyricism, particularly on albums including 2004’s East Nashville Skyline, long considered an essential alt-country LP. His projects, including the 2008 EP Peace Queer and 2012’s Agnostic Hymns and Stoner Fables, also offer political and cultural commentary.

Snider has had his songs recorded by artists including Cross Canadian Ragweed and Loretta Lynn, and teamed with fellow artists including Widespread Panic’s Dave Schools and Duane Tracks to form Hard Working Americans.
