ontd tiktok roundup 2 copy.jpgTikTok was talking all about Bad Bunny’s phenomenal Superbowl halftime show. There some great videos of jokes, kids dancing, memes, and spoofs. The giant walking grasses were this year’s left shark, for sure.

TikTok loved Lady Gaga’s awkward white girl salsa

Naturally, though, plenty of racists showed their faces. Social media scum Jake Paul made a racist tweet calling Benito a “fake American citizen who publicly hates America.” Then, of course, he claimed that he was hacked. Two of the Real Housewives also made racist posts. Their alterate draft pick, Kid Rock, was allegedly lip-syncing during Turning Point USA’s halftime show. Plus, videos resurfaced of him making predatory comments about underage girls.

There has also been a lot of discussion about this year’s commercials, including the dystopian Ring camera add about lost pets that can turn your neighborhood into a benevolent surveillance state.

Many users are also discussing sports betting. This was kind of the first Super Bowl for which sports betting apps such as Draft Kings became really mainstream. Celebrities such as Kendall Jenner and Kevin Hart even did Super Bowl commercials for gambling apps.

One guy on TikTok went viral for betting his life savings of $30,000 on the Sea Hawks. (He won, fortunately.)

Are you a bebot? Pronounced BEH-bo, not BEE-bot, a bebot is Filipino slang for a hot girl. Now, the girlies all over TikTok are giving bebot beauty tutorials.

Staples accidentally stumbled into some great PR when one of its clerks posted several viral TikToks about the brand. A user by the name of Blivxx posted a TikTok hyping up the many underused services offered by Staples. The videos went mega-viral, racking up millions of views, and Blivxx is now known as only the Staples Baddie.

Do you remember Clavicular, the conservative looksmaxxing dude who looks like he is decaying? This week, he got frame mogged by an ASU fra guy taking a photo with him. What did any of those words mean? Well, to “mog” is to have a classically handome face. To “get mogged” is to get upstaged by someone hotter than you. Ergo, he got outdone by some random frat guy in his picture. God, I’m old.

Well, Cardi B has unfollowed Stefon Diggs. That was short.Oh, no, Mikayla Nogueira is getting divorced. *Wendy Williams voice:* Oh, well.Ever lost a promotion to someone less deserving? One woman named Jennifer Schroeder lost out on a promotion to a 25-year-old…and then her employer asked her to train them. HR was shocked when she said no!Perhaps even more importantly, ever sent an inappropriate video to someone accidentally? No, not like Trump “accidentally” posting that racist video. Like sending a video of a woman talking about crab legs to your dad, who loves crab legs, but not realizing that in the end of the video, the woman says she would love her legs cracked open, hold the butter.

If you have not sent a video like this, don’t worry: a different woman on TikTok did. Here is her tale of woe:

And here is the crab leg lover in question, hold the butter:

Is Shrek a cautionary tale? This new Shrek ~discourse~ is the most amusing yet brain-rotting thing I have seen in a while. There are some creators arguing that Shrek is not a fairy tale but a cautionary tale about how a woman downgrading herself for a loser man. Other creators are up in arms for millenials’ and Gen Z’s favorite green creature.

The latest controversy in BookTok-land? Many writers on the fanfiction platform AO3 want to monetize the fanfiction that they write. It is now a big debate on BookTok, with most seeming to be against. Some AO3/BookTokers worry that monetization is a breach of fanfiction-writing etiquette. Finally, a years-long TikTok saga has come to an end. In 2020, a user named ReallyRapunzel started saving every strand of hair that fell out of her head, then taping them to the wall next to her toilet until she had enough to make a wig. This week, she revealed that she is putting an end to this hairy task. R.I.P., RealRapunzel’s wig. R.I.P.
