The Princess of Wales chose neutral separates for an engagement with Prince William at the Natural History Museum today. The Princess Wears Separates for Rainy Natural History Museum Engagement – What Kate Wore

Here is a quick video of the royals arriving courtesy of Cameron Walker of GB News.

NEW: The Prince and Princess of Wales have arrived at @NHM_London to meet children in its gardens.

Many readers will recall that the Princess has been the museum’s royal patron since 2013. The couple was there to see the museum’s new gardens, described as “…a haven for wildlife and people in the heart of London.” The gardens are free to visit; no ticket is required. We learn more from this People article.

Princess Kate and Prince William learned how the gardens serve as a living laboratory, where visitors and scientists can view wildlife in an urban environment.

The royals met students taking part in the National Education Nature Park program.

Unfortunately, the outdoor activities at the museum were interrupted by a sudden downpour.

Emily Ferguson of The Express shared a video of the rain.

Unfortunately the heavens have opened… ☔️

We return to the People story.

Beverley Brown, an assistant headteacher at Kender Primary School, said, according to Hello!: “We had been waiting for the session to start, and the children were very excited. Princess Kate was in amongst us and said, ‘Let them go in,’ and ‘Let’s take them inside, it’s pouring.’

Kate was seen helping to guide the young students inside as the rain came down.

All had to dry off inside the activity centre before the royals took part in a workshop helping the children identify animals encased in blocks and find their regular habitat.

Asked by a teacher for their findings, Catherine said the children in her group ‘decided spiders are everywhere.’

William rested his arm on one teacher’s damp shoulders and said: ‘Are you wet? We got you inside in time.’

Kensington Palace noted the rain in a social media post.

Here is a video from the Palace covering the museum visit.

We now look at what Kate wore for today’s engagement.

The blazer appears to be a past-season Ralph Lauren design, thanks to Ellie of Royal British Fashion via Middleton Maven. The single-breasted style is crafted in 100% wool tweed of a green/brown tweed, with notched lapels, angled flap pockets, darts, and a center back vent. I show it below as offered on resale site The Real Real.

Beneath the jacket, the Princess had on a white shirt with a point collar and flared cuffs. Both the Mail and the Telegraph are reporting it is by shirtmaker With Nothing Underneath. It’s possible she wore the label’s Boyfriend Exaggerated Cuff style ($155),but the button spacing on the cuffs doesn’t look quite the same. UPDATE: The brand tells Middleton Maven the shirt is their Boyfriend Style in 100% Tencel ($190), featuring a looser fit with pleats across the yoke.

I’m not able to tell if the trousers are a dark teal as they appear in some photos, or black, so at this point, they are unidentified. The belt initially resembled the Anderson’s Croc Effect Leather Belt, which has been worn on multiple occasions; however, the buckle hardware is wider (seen below left) than the Anderson’s style shown below right.

It looks like the Princess wore loafers by Pretty Ballerinas, the Spanish brand specializing in flats and low-heeled designs that we have seen the Princess wear previously. The style is the Ella, with a pointed toe, fringed trim, and gold-toned hardware. Thank you to Kate Middleton Styled this ID, also via Middleton Maven.

The Princess wore her hair down with a loose curl. It is clearly lighter than it has been for some time; I was wrong in the most recent post covering August style through the years, saying I thought it was the sunshine making it look so light.

She brought back her Classic Blue Topaz Pear Drop Earrings (£850, roughly $1140 at today’s exchange rates) by Kiki McDonough. She wore her engagement ring, wedding band, the Annoushka Eclipse Eternity Band ($2200), and the sapphire/diamond band believed to be Cartier’s Etincelle style ($5000).

The Princess also wore necklaces by Daniella Draper, her Trio Diamond Midnight Moon necklace, and the Fixed Alphabet Style with the initials G, C, and L.

Here is one more photo from today’s engagement.
