Out of all of the projects that James Gunn has announced for the DC Universe, the one fans are most interested in is Batman: The Brave and The Bold. The film presents the chance to entirely reinvent the Dark Knight for the big screen. And while some are waiting for any updates on when the movie will start production, others are unsure the script even exists.
There is a small, albeit vocal, minority of DC fans that believe Batman: The Brave and The Bold is a smoke screen for James Gunn to bring Robert Pattinson’s Batman into the DC Universe. Of course, it’s hard to blame them given how few updates have been provided about a project that many believe should have been the second film out of the franchise.
The Long Awaited Update On Batman: The Brave and The Bold
After the dark night of silence, it seems as though James Gunn is ready to provide some positive updates on Batman: The Brave and The Bold. When speaking on the 2 Bears, 1 Cave podcast, the director revealed that the most important thing for him is nailing the character of Batman in the DC Universe, and that he believes they have a good story for fans to enjoy.
“[What the costume looks like isn’t] important to me. What matters is the Character and The Story and I think we have a really really good Story now for what’s happening with Batman.”
Given James Gunn has emphasized how important it is to have a good story before any movie in the DC Universe enters production, the fact that the (currently unknown) writer behind Batman: The Brave and The Bold has a good story is a positive sign. While it’s not likely the film will come out in the first 5 DC Studios films, it’s likely the reboot is less than four years from hitting theaters.
