Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame has suddenly climbed back into the Top 10 Disney+ charts six years after it released in theaters. With Avengers: Doomsday and Secret Wars on the horizon, plus new Spider-Man: Brand New Day updates and set videos dropping almost daily, Marvel fever is higher than it has been in years. Fans seem to be preparing themselves by revisiting the biggest and arguably the greatest Avengers film ever made. When it first arrived in theaters in 2019, it was the cinematic event of a generation and managed to conclude an epic story told across 11 years and 22 interconnected films.
Endgame is currently in the Top 10 Disney+ streaming charts in more than 45 countries. The film’s original run was historic. It surpassed Infinity War’s entire theatrical run in just eleven days and went on to gross $2.799 billion worldwide. The MCU hit became the highest-grossing film of all time in July 2019 and held the crown until March 2021, when Avatar reclaimed the title after a re-release in China.
The renewed interest also comes on the heels of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. It gave fans their first real look at Doctor Doom, and the MCU finally feels like it is building toward another large-scale conclusion similar to Infinity War and Endgame. The Russos have also teased that Tony Stark’s (Robert Downey Jr.) death in Endgame will directly connect to Doom’s arrival. So, with Downey set to transition from Marvel’s greatest hero to one of its most dangerous villains, it looks like fans are returning to his final appearance as Iron Man before his next chapter begins.
‘Avengers: Endgame’ Feels Like a 3-Hour Love Letter to MCU Fans
Since Endgame, many fans have criticized Phases 4 and 5 for feeling scattered and lacking interconnectivity. And barely any movie in The Multiverse Saga has managed to reach the highs of Endgame. Rewatching it feels like experiencing the golden days of the MCU in one sitting as the Avengers go back in time and revisit all the biggest moments from the franchise. The film is also stacked with payoffs and callbacks to previous movies.
Ever since Age of Ultron, fans have wondered if Cap (Chris Evans) could lift Mjölnir, and here he finally does. He also delivers the “Avengers… assemble!” line that has been teased since 2012. Tony’s final “I am Iron Man” brings his story full circle. Every beat feels like Marvel honoring its own history while giving fans the perfect farewell to The Infinity Saga. And its return to the streaming charts shows that even six years later, the finale still makes fans feel all those satisfying bits.
