Is Catwoman cut from the sequel? The latest rumor from The Batman franchise suggests Zoë Kravitz isn’t set to return as her iconic cat burglar.
With the sequel’s script officially locked and loaded, fervor for The Batman saga is officially picking back up (not that it ever actually died down). And when there’s blood in the water, interviewers are going to jump on it. This has led every member of The Batman‘s cast, from Jeffrey Wright to Zoë Kravitz, to be endlessly asked if they know anything about the upcoming film.
This has, shockingly, actually led to some interesting happenings on the press circuit. While these events haven’t been confirmed, a rumor from veteran film reporter Jeff Sneider reveals that Zoë Kravitz’s publicists toward the media that she wasn’t in The Batman sequel and not to ask details about the project. This may seem shocking for some fans who thought Catwoman was a shoo-in to return.
Is Zoë Kravitz In The Batman Sequel?
One important thing to note, and is something that Jeff Sneider himself cited in the original rumor, is that press teams lie. The only way to be certain to keep journalists from asking about her role in The Batman sequel is to flat-out say that Catwoman won’t be in it. It’s not a new strategy either, as Zoë Kravitz’s team would simply be taking a page out of Andrew Garfield’s book for his return as Spider-Man in No Way Home.
It also textually doesn’t make sense that Zoë Kravitz wouldn’t return as Catwoman in The Batman sequel. Her role in the franchise’s future was heavily teased at the end of The Penguin. And given the rumor mill is pushing the idea of Cristinia Ricci making an appearance as Sofia Gigante in the film, it’s not likely one would appear without the other.
