The Batman Part II director Matt Reeves has confirmed that the script for the highly anticipated sequel is officially complete. Reeves took to social media to share the news, posting a black-and-white photo that shows a finished script with The Batman logo prominently displayed at the top. In the background, Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin appear blurred out, highlighting the focus on their completed work.

The image was captioned simply, “Partners in Crime (Fighters),” a nod to their collaboration on the next chapter in Robert Pattinson’s Dark Knight saga. With the script finalized, the film moves one step closer to production as fans eagerly await further updates on The Batman Part II.

While plot details remain under wraps, The Batman Part II is expected to bring back several key cast members. Robert Pattinson will return as Bruce Wayne, with Andy Serkis, Colin Farrell, and Jeffrey Wright also likely to reprise their roles as Alfred Pennyworth, Oswald Cobblepot, and Jim Gordon, respectively.

The Batman Part II is currently scheduled for release on October 1, 2027. The date marks a full five years since the first installment hit theaters in March 2022, giving director Matt Reeves and his team ample time to continue developing their grounded take on Gotham City and its characters.

What DC Studios co-head James Gunn has said about Robert Pattinson’s Batman future

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, DC Studios co-chair James Gunn offered new insight into the current state of The Batman Part II and addressed persistent rumors about its status. While discussing the future of DC’s cinematic universe, Gunn was asked whether he would have considered incorporating Robert Pattinson’s Batman into the new connected DCU if it had been up to him. “It would be a consideration,” Gunn told the outlet. “We’d have to think about it. We’d have to think about it. It is not like we’ve never discussed it.”

The interviewer noted that Gunn’s answer sounded more present-tense than expected, possibly suggesting that such a crossover is still on the table. However, Gunn quickly clarified where things stand regarding Batman’s place in the franchise.

“No, I don’t — Batman’s my biggest issue in all of DC right now, personally,” he said. “And it’s not — I’m not writing Batman, but I am working with the writer of Batman and trying to get it right, because he’s incredibly important to DC, as is Wonder Woman. So, outside of the stuff that I’m doing in the projects that are actively going, our two priorities are finishing our Wonder Woman and our Batman scripts.”

As it stands, the DCU’s version of the Dark Knight is still going by the working title The Brave and the Bold, and Gunn confirmed that label still applies: “Right now, yeah. Right now.” When pressed directly on whether there’s still a “non-zero chance” that Reeves’ Batman could eventually be pulled into the DCU, Gunn paused before giving a carefully measured answer.

Stay tuned for more updates on The Batman Part II and the future of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s DC Universe.
