Teyana Taylor Spills On Relationship With Kanye West

Teyana Taylor is making it clear that her loyalty to Kanye West remains intact, even amid his most controversial moments.

The “A Thousand And One” actress is opening up about the relationships that have shaped her life. In her candid conversation, she touches on her dissolved marriage to Iman Shumpert, her long-standing connection with West, and her growing sisterhood with Kim Kardashian, with whom she co-starred. 

While Taylor says her past marriage shapes how she approaches love, she’s equally firm that she won’t turn her back on West.

In a recent Vanity Fair interview, Taylor candidly addressed her relationship with the Yeezy founder, which she has previously described as familial.

Despite the Grammy winner’s antisemitic remarks, Taylor said her loyalty to him has not disappeared.

“I don’t have to agree with everything that he do or say, but I’m not going to, like, abandon him and be like, ‘Yeah, eff that motherf–ker,'” she explained, likening the situation to disagreements she has had with her own siblings.

“My brothers do shit that I don’t agree with…. I don’t get into none of that,” the 35-year-old model said.

While she continues to stand by the rapper, Taylor stressed that she won’t hesitate to be honest with him if the moment calls for it. “If he asks me something, he knows he’s gonna get a real answer,” the choreographer noted.

Beyond her relationship with the fashion designer, Taylor also revealed that she has grown close to his ex-wife, Kim Kardashian. The two formed a tight bond, which Taylor described as a genuine sisterhood after co-starring in Hulu’s “All’s Fair.”

She disclosed lighthearted details from their time on set, including lively group chats where she once urged Kardashian to call SKIMS to get her a new bra.

Taylor’s latest interview isn’t the first time she has spoken fondly about her blossoming bond with “The Kardashian” star.  

Just days earlier, The Blast reported that the “Google Me” singer revealed that being on set with the reality star transformed their initial friendship into something stronger. 

“We really went into the show [as] friends and finished out the show as sisters,” Taylor shared. The actress, who plays Milan, a mentee of Kim’s character in the Ryan Murphy series, also praised the experience. She called the on-set dynamic between her and the KKW founder “really good.”

While discussing her stance with Kim and West, Taylor was also candid about her now-ended union with Shumpert. 

Although the union’s end was marked with heated legal battles, Taylor acknowledges the relationship left its mark on her, such that she looks at it while going into future relationships. 

She described their nearly decade-long romance as a sincere expression of love, and compared its end to “grieving the death of a living being.”

“When I love, my love is real,” Taylor confessed, as The Blast reported earlier. “So whatever you’ve seen was a real display of love until there was no more. And that’s okay.”

Taylor and the former Cleveland Cavaliers guard finalized their divorce in 2024. That same year, the “Bare Wit Me” singer filed a motion accusing Shumpert of violating Georgia’s automatic domestic standing order, which prohibits significant financial transactions during divorce proceedings.

She alleged that the former NBA star depleted their marital assets through a series of withdrawals and loans, reducing the estate by nearly $3.8 million.

In May of 2025, Shumpert moved to have the court hold the actress in contempt for violating a non-disclosure agreement in their settlement during an Instagram live. The court sided with the basketball player, and in August 2025, slammed Taylor with a $70,000 fine.

As Taylor looks back on her connections with Shumpert, Kardashian, and West, she recently celebrated winning the Golden Globes for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in “One Battle After Another.”

Taylor took to Instagram, expressing gratitude and acknowledging the years of dedication. “I’ve been at this for 20 years, so this award doesn’t only represent this role… it represents every season, every sacrifice, every yes, every no,” Taylor wrote.

Her career began with a breakout appearance on MTV’s “My Super Sweet 16,” while her music path gained momentum under West’s influence. 

After joining G.O.O.D. Taylor contributed vocals to “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy” and appeared on “Cruel Summer.” In 2016, she starred in the West’s viral “Fade” video, which has since topped 190 million views on YouTube.
