Teddi Mellencamp is marking a year since her life was forever changed, and the way she’s choosing to acknowledge it is raw, honest, and quietly heartbreaking.
On Monday, the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills alum shared a simple selfie from her bed on Instagram, but the words that came with it carried the weight of everything she’s endured since that day.

What started as something many of us have brushed off at one point or another quickly turned into a nightmare no one is ever prepared for, as she reflected:
“A year ago today I went into the ER thinking I had migraines and within 24 hours was having surgery on the plum-sized stage 4 tumors on my brain.”
Let that sink in. One year, one ER visit, and a complete upheaval of life as she knew it.
Teddi didn’t shy away from admitting that this anniversary brings complicated emotions, and honestly, how could it not? She spoke openly about the fear that still lingers alongside a deep sense of thankfulness for the people who carried her through the darkest moments:
“I have a lot of anxiety surrounding today but also a lot of gratitude. Gratitude for the doctors and nurses who took care of me, gratitude for my family and friends for supporting me, and gratitude for all the love that you have poured into me.”
There’s something incredibly powerful about that balance of fear and gratitude, especially coming from someone who has been so visible in her struggle. Teddi also used the moment to gently but firmly urge her followers to listen to their bodies and not second-guess themselves when something feels off:
“Trust your instincts. Get checked.”
The comments section quickly filled with love from friends, fans, and familiar faces from Bravo-land, all rallying around her on this difficult milestone.
Kyle Richards summed up what so many were feeling with her message of unwavering support:
“I can’t believe it’s been a year! You’re so strong Ted. Even the days you feel like you aren’t. You’re an inspiration to SO many. Love you!”
Below Deck Mediterranean’s Captain Sandy Yawn and Real Housewives Kiki Barth and Chanel Ayan also echoed that sentiment, highlighting the impact Teddi’s openness has had far beyond reality TV:
“You are so inspiring for millions of people. Thank you for sharing your experience strength and hope with us all.”
“Stay strong”
“Love you teddi, stay strong hunny.”
As we’ve been reporting, after first battling melanoma in 2022, Teddi revealed in early 2025 that her cancer had progressed to stage IV and spread to her lungs and brain. Since then, she’s undergone multiple surgeries, radiation, and immunotherapy, facing each step with a level of transparency that’s both brave and sobering.
Sending all the love and light in the world!!!
