Sony Interactive Entertainment, with a 2024 revenue of over $31 billion, has announced a $50 price increase for all PlayStation 5 consoles, but didn’t explain why. Is it the tariffs, a cash grab, or is Sony following suit after Nintendo and Xbox? You would think five year old hardware would see a price decrease, but who can never be sure.
So far, the only retailer that has actually increased PS5 prices is PlayStation Direct. All other online retailers have yet to make the change. If you’ve been thinking about nabbing a PS5, the time might be now, or you may be waiting for unconfirmed deals during Black Friday.
