Seasons 1 and 2 of Solo Leveling have introduced audiences to Sung Jinwoo (Aleks Le), who started out as the weakest hunter of all of mankind to South Korea’s 10th S-Rank Hunter. Throughout the show, he has faced numerous adversaries with diverse powers and abilities, and it remains unknown what his limits are. Well, according to Solo Leveling’s producer, Season 3 could be the moment where Jinwoo’s aura farming might come with a cost.
In an interview with ScreenRant, producer Atsushi Kaneko spoke about Sung Jinwoo’s future if Season 3 were to be greenlit. According to him, this S-Rank’s rise to power would come at a personal cost. Kaneko doesn’t disclose what these consequences would entail, but it would create an intriguing shift in this hunter’s narrative moving forward.
“If we get a Season three, Jinwoo would become the strongest, but he would lose something in that regard. He would be incomplete. We want to show that conflict, and I would be happy to show that.”
At the moment, Season 3 has yet to be greenlit. But if it does continue, it’s very likely for it to continue the “Recruitment Arc,” as well as cover the “Ahjin Guild Arc,” as Jinwoo has expressed interest in creating his own guild following the events on Jeju Island. Additionally, it also has the chance to cover the “Double Dungeon Arc,” where he learns the truth about his powers.
Is ‘Solo Leveling’ Canceled?
Recently, it was reported that A-1 Pictures, the studio behind Solo Leveling, showed a net loss of approximately $1.2 million in its recently published financial report, marking this year as the studio’s largest loss in nearly ten years. However, despite the drop in its financials, the studio falls under the Aniplex umbrella, which Sony Group Corporation owns. Therefore, it’s unlikely that a project as successful as this would be scrapped immediately, especially when the entertainment conglomerate boasted about Solo Leveling during a business presentation.
Solo Leveling pulled large streaming numbers when Season 2 dropped, with both Sony and its Global Distributor, Kakao Entertainment, reporting that Season 2 is “the most popular series” on Crunchyroll during the first quarter of 2025.” Additionally, out of the 23 awards it was nominated for in the 2025 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, it won 13, including “Anime of the Year.” While Season 3’s future remains unknown, the franchise has announced a live-action adaptation is in the works, but has yet to share updates on its progress.
Solo Leveling Seasons 1 and 2 are available to stream on Crunchyroll. Follow Collider to keep up to date with the latest updates.
