Ecca Vandal has released her new single “BLEACH,” a song about stripping away the version of you that’s shaped by fear. Known for her DIY approach, Vandal shared on Instagram that the location for the “BLEACH” video was a serendipitous find, discovering the house on the same day she filmed “BLEED BUT NEVER DIE.”
“I decided to reach out to the owner on a whim, fully expecting nothing to come of it,” Vandal says. “But she ended up being super generous and offered to let us shoot in the house at no cost with no conditions. She said she understood what it takes to be a DIY artist and how much artists give of themselves for their art to exist. Her generosity truly held the whole thing together.”

Last year, Vandal shared with AP about being a DIY artist and maintaining authenticity. “It’s all in a gut feeling, and that’s really hard,” she says. “Sometimes I have to convince a lot of other people to have the same gut feeling. There’s a certain level of denial you have to have, because if I’m looking to other people, then I can easily get sidetracked and distracted from what we’re trying to do.”
The video, which was directed, written, styled, and edited by Vandal, comes ahead of her debut at Coachella later this spring and a support slot with Deftones on their Australia and New Zealand tour this summer.
