RHONY Cancelled? Bravo Hits the Brakes on Franchise With No Return Date Announced
The Real Housewives of New York City is taking a break — and for now, there’s no word on when, or if, the beloved Bravo series will return.
Amid Bravo’s latest string of renewals and fresh spinoff announcements — including the recently revealed Real Housewives of Rhode Island — a source tells Page Six that there are currently “no plans” to air a 16th season of RHONY.
“We’re trying to figure that show out,” the insider shared on May 8.
Since its 2008 debut, RHONY has been a flagship series within the Housewives universe, featuring original stars like Ramona Singer, Jill Zarin, Bethenny Frankel, Alex McCord, and Luann de Lesseps. But after years of ratings decline and mounting cast controversies, the network opted for a complete reboot in 2022 with a new lineup: Jenna Lyons, Ubah Hassan, Jessel Taank, Sai De Silva, Erin Lichy, and Brynn Whitfield.
Alongside the reboot, there were plans to launch a RHONY: Legacy spinoff, which would reunite beloved veterans like Ramona, Luann, Sonja Morgan, Dorinda Medley, Kelly Bensimon, and Kristen Taekman.
However, negotiations for that show stalled, and many of the former cast members instead filmed a Real Housewives: Ultimate Girls Trip season for Peacock.
Despite the quiet shelving of the current RHONY iteration, the network reportedly has no intention of calling the show “canceled.” “We want to figure it out. We think there’s still life in it,” the source explained. Earlier this year, casting calls were issued in hopes of assembling a new group of women to carry the franchise forward. But Bravo may be facing an uphill battle.
“At this point, they’ve seen people’s marriages ruined, their kids’ lives ruined, their businesses ruined,” the insider said. “It’s just not a very desirable thing to sign up for.”
While it’s unclear whether any of the season 14 cast will return — or if a new group of Housewives will be assembled entirely — the franchise is expected to remain on pause until the network can decide on a clear direction.
A spokesperson for Bravo confirmed the show’s future remains uncertain but not final. “Nothing is official,” they said. “The show hasn’t been canceled.”
After the Season 14 finale of RHONY, many fans called for a pause, citing the lackluster dynamics between cast members like Ubah Hassan and Brynn Whitfield. Viewers felt the reboot didn’t deliver the chemistry or drama expected from the franchise.
Some even urged Bravo to regroup and recast before launching another season.
The RHONY pause comes at the same time as a production break for The Real Housewives of New Jersey, which is also awaiting official renewal for its next season.
