Y’all, this is soooooo disappointing to hear!
Into the fourth week of the search for Nancy Guthrie, we’ve all been holding our breaths, hoping that key DNA evidence discovered inside her home, which does not belong to her family members and others in her close circle, could be the key to solving this mystery. Unfortunately, we’re gonna have to wait longer for answers.

In a candid interview with NBC News on Saturday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos revealed there have been “challenges” with the DNA sample. Sadly, the samples are “mixed,” which means they contain DNA from more than one person and it is harder to run the samples through national databases. He added:
“Our lab tells us there’s challenges with it. But technology is moving so fast, and it’s such a frenzy that they think some of this stuff will resolve itself just in a matter of weeks, months, or maybe a year.”
While that may be helpful for other cases, it’s not the timeline anyone, especially not the Guthrie family, wants to hear right now.
Chris also said they have “no names” of people they are currently looking into, but stressed he still believes they’re “getting closer” to finding the 84-year-old and her alleged captor(s), noting they are “getting closer to identifying some of the other articles” seen on the man in the doorbell footage. He said emotionally:
“We’re not quitting. We will find her.”

Law enforcement confirmed on February 13 that “DNA other than Nancy Guthrie’s and those in close contact to her” was found in her Tucson, Arizona home, but they did not share where it was located exactly.
This comes after The Pima County Sheriff’s Department shared last week that “DNA evidence from gloves found approximately 2 miles from Nancy Guthrie’s residence was submitted to CODIS & produced no matches.” The glove is expected to “undergo genealogical testing” now.
We sincerely hope the authorities get a tip that leads them in the right direction — and fast. Every day that goes by without signs of Nancy just gets more and more heartbreaking!
