This is Tour Diary, where artists give us a behind-the-scenes look at life on the road. LØLØ is a playful singer-songwriter who’s mastered the art of the breakup song. Coming up in Toronto, she got her start performing at open mics around the city and, at the behest of her guitar teacher, used her diary pages as the foundation for ultra-vulnerable songs. Since, the burgeoning star of modern pop punk has made her name through hooky angst and self-deprecation, best heard on her latest singles. “american zombie” and “the devil wears converse” are addictively listenable, while her recent feature on Taylor Acorn’s Survival In Motion deluxe lends emotional weight and proves that they’re a formidable duo. Most recently, though, she wrapped an opening slot for Simple Plan’s Bigger Than You Think tour, where she played those fresh songs, covered Icona Pop, and joined the pop-punk veterans for “Jet Leg.”

I’ve been wanting to tour with Simple Plan for a very long time. Fun fact: I was supposed to in 2021, but it got canceled due to COVID. This was a long time coming, and I got to sing “Jet Lag” with them every night. / Kelsey Runge

We must take a moment to appreciate the time my guitar matched my tank top and nails perfectly. / Kelsey Runge

Preshow ritual, my band and crew put our hands in the middle, I give a little pep talk, and then we all yell “DUMB BITCH!” And point to the dumbest bitch of the day. It’s an endearing point, not a mean one, from my song “lonely & pathetic.” / Kelsey Runge

In our Minneapolis green room overlooking the crowd walking in… This is me taking my preshow photo while simultaneously freaking out because so many thousands of people were walking in. It was so much fun to watch the other bands from this angle afterward. / Kelsey Runge

The venue in Salt Lake City was in a soccer field, so we needed a golf cart to get around everywhere. There’s just something about being golf-carted around that makes you feel very cool. / Kelsey Runge

Me taking a pic of my stage setup and admiring the lovely mountains in Utah. That day was windy. I almost blew away during my set. / Kelsey Runge

This is the second time I’ve performed in Asbury Park, and I feel like the crowd is always the best at this venue. / Kelsey Runge

There were so many custom T-shirt stores in Virginia Beach, so I had to make this shirt. Pierre loved it, obviously! / Lindsey Blane

But do you know who loved it more? Nat from 3OH!3. He surprised me by trying on my clothes and ended up coming out during “Jet Lag” that night to prank Simple Plan. I had my Lizzie McGuire movie moment where I sang in the stands while Nat lip-synced to my voice, and I think I shocked the entire audience, along with Simple Plan. / Lindsey Blane

The real best part of every night? Getting to hug Pierre at the end of “Jet Lag.” What a fun tour. I will miss it so much! / Kelsey Runge
