Inside The Two-Time Super Bowl Winner’s Previous Medical Episodes
Sanders’ story about injuries and surgeries is filled with resilience and many triumphs. He went through one of the most challenging times of his life between 2021 and 2023 when he underwent multiple surgeries on his leg and foot, respectively, after a coaching injury at Jackson State.
The 57-year-old reportedly nearly got his entire foot amputated due to blood clot complications in that part of his body. But the wind did not blow over without leaving him something to remember it by.
Sanders eventually got two toes amputated on his left foot (his big toe and the one next to it). The whole medical debacle was a result of a turf toe injury that escalated into multiple surgeries, leading to an inflamed nerve that caused blood clots.
Deion Sanders’ Strong Support System Revealed
The 57-year-old comes from a closely knit family of five children and a sibling, Tracy Knight. Sanders is currently unmarried, but has welcomed his five children from two previous marriages.
His 9-year marriage to Carolyn Chambers produced three children: Deiondra, 33, and Deion Jr., 31. He then welcomed Shilo, Shedeur, and Shelomi from his former marriage to Pilar Sanders, which lasted from 1999 to 2015.
Shilo and Shedeur have stepped into their father’s big shoes by playing in the NFL. Shilo plays as a safety for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, while Shedeur is currently a quarterback for the Cleveland Browns. Nothing is known relationship-wise about Sanders since his divorce about a decade ago.

Inside The Former Baseball Player’s 2019 Legal Battle
In 2019, Sanders initiated a legal action against interior and moving companies, including North Texas Movers, Officer Interiors Group, and Bekins A-1 Movers. He slammed the companies breaching an existing agreement by seizing, selling, transferring, and/or hiding his property, and sought damages.
The Blast reported that Sanders claimed Bekins A-1 Mover had handled some of his prized possessions carelessly despite paying them to maintain extra caution.
The prized items included valuable heirlooms, high-value collectibles worth approximately $1 million, and his personal belongings. He noted that he learned that Bekins sold their storage facility to Office Interior Groups in 2018, and they failed to store his properties in good condition.
He experienced difficulty in assessing the items due to paperwork when they were moved to another facility. Sanders noted that his chandelier, grand piano, and other items were broken when he eventually saw them.
