New York fans are all jubilation. Well, just a little discoloration mostly from passionate hierarchy to downright bizarre analysis, in response to a tweet proclaiming, “The Mecca is calling.” It’s a sort of tribute to MSG standing in the pantheon of basketball culture.

The Mecca of Basketball gig has always been legendary in NBA lore. It is the place where legends are forged; a shrill cry from the passionate crowd can change the momentum of a game in the blink of an eye. This time around with the Knicks having their big moment in the playoffs, the Garden is expected to be at full sound capacity, though there are skeptics.
No Quarter opined: “It’s time to not be awful at home. Get it done!” That will sting for a little while. New Yorkers do not sugarcoat their remarks. On the other side, The Garage Playbook goes into the future, asking: “Final score predictions?”.
However, Wil took a different approach with that “Mecca” quote as he began questioning why MSG is called that, bringing in politics: “Why do they call MSG mecca? What has the Arabic culture ever done for basketball?” That was followed by a rant that would have seemed stranger than a halftime show with no entertainment.
Most replies, though, pasta-filled with Knicks hype: “LET’S GO KNICKS💙🧡,” screamed a fan. Several other voices said, “PUT THEM IN THE DIRT!!!!!!” Classic New York energy, indeed. Even those that cannot carry a tune weighed in: BigKnicksFan_ called The Mecca “fucking gross and overpriced,” and that’s a fair point: when was the last time you checked on those concessions?
The real heat seems to be on Jalen Brunson. “Brunson gotta show up today,” one fan stressed. “Spot light definitely will be on him tonight,” teased another. No pressure, of course.
And then we’ve got the ever-looming officiating fear. “Hopefully refs don’t let Boston back in series,” nervously tweeted one user. Because nothing unites Knicks fans like a shared distrust of the referees.
Near the opposite of this bad blood came some nostalgia, with one user saying that the Garden announcer has a distinctive way of announcing their star players, much like they did for Carmelo Anthony back in the day.
So, what’s the feel? As expected, pure chaos. The Knicks have their fans riding high on hope, frustration, and New York passion. Whether they bring home the trophy or not, one thing is for sure: MSG is going to be loud and proud and ready to explode.
If only the team could make sure the game doesn’t lead to another round of “Why do we suck at home?” tweets. That’d be nice.
Side note: If you want tickets, maybe don’t trust random DMs from someone named Roberts. Just putting it out there.

Knicks in 4, maybe? First, they have to survive tonight. If the replies are any indication, the fans are going to lose their voices for either outcome.
