The thunderous applause hit the scene as Meg Donnelly released her first EP. Donnelly had taken to Instagram to announce this fabulous debut to her fans, saying: “This project means the world to me, and I’m so glad it’s out there for you all to hear” (included a link to the EP in her bio).

‘Dying Art’ was a deeply personal project for Donnelly; she recently revealed the beginnings of the conception of the project to her fans. She mentioned that the blue tones and spirals had an important part in the visuals and theme of the music. “Blue is kind of a key thing throughout all of my music,” she elaborates, “And then also spirals because I feel like it represents life. And also spiraling thought.”
“This is like, essentially, hip-hop and old-school Hollywood glamour inspiration,” said Donnelly. Having been a theater kid in New York City, her artistic identity seems to glide through these worlds effortlessly, if not in opposition.
Almost instantly, fans flooded the comments with their glow and show of excitement. “I’m OBSESSED!!!!! It’s a dying art summer for me!! Talk in private is about to be on repeat forever,” one user said. “Just got to the interlude. I’m SCREAMING you ate so hard,” said another. The overwhelming vibes went on shaking hands with admiration: “SO PROUD OF YOU MEGGIE” and “You did awesome work on your EP” from the chorus.
Some of these fans even took this opportunity to suggest a few other things for Donnelly. “She should have been Supergirl,” one suggested, while another insisted, “You would be a cool Samus Aran!” The celebrating didn’t stop: many fans also embraced the entire cast and crew and thanked anyone who had helped.
The ‘Dying Art’ release proved to be a big milestone in Donnelly’s career, simultaneously declaring that she could act far too proudly. It’s hard not to say that a spectacular debut means she is carving a very special niche for herself in the music industry. And if the reception by fans is anything to judge from, she is far from over.
