McBee Dynasty Star Steven McBee Sr. Sentenced to 2 Years in Prison for Multi-Million Dollar Fraud Case!
McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys patriarch Steve McBee Sr. has officially traded his cowboy hat for a prison uniform.
U.S. District Court Judge Stephen R. Bough handed down the sentence on Thursday, Oct. 16, in Kansas City, Missouri. The 52-year-old reality star will also serve two years of supervised release following his prison term and must pay $4,022,124 in restitution, according to court documents. Steven McBee Sr. is required to self-surrender by Dec. 1 at 2 p.m.
Prior to sentencing, Steven faced a maximum of 30 years in prison. Prosecutors requested a 41-month sentence and $4 million restitution, citing what they called the “defendant’s gain from the criminal conduct.”
McBee’s attorneys had asked for supervised release instead of prison time. The sentencing — originally scheduled for March — had been postponed several times. McBee ultimately pled guilty in November 2024 to one count of federal crop insurance fraud.
According to the Department of Justice, Steven admitted to filing false reports with Rain and Hail, a company reinsured by the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation.
He submitted fraudulent documents that underreported his 2018 corn and soybean yields by hundreds of thousands of bushels. The false filings allowed him to collect over $3.1 million in unauthorized insurance benefits and subsidies.
In September, while awaiting sentencing, Steven McBee Sr. was ordered to forfeit three designer watches — a Tag Heuer Formula 1, Tag Heuer Grand Carrera, and a Rolex Daytona — as partial repayment of his debt. “The United States has located assets belonging to the defendant that were not directly obtained through the offenses,” court documents stated.
Meanwhile, Bravo confirmed that its hit reality series, The McBee Dynasty: Real American Cowboys, has been renewed for a third season, even as Steven prepares to serve his sentence. In Steven’s absence, the show will continue to focus on his sons — Steven Jr., Jesse, and Cole McBee — as they manage the family farm and navigate love, legacy, and ranch life.
