For a long time, the Marvel Cinematic Universe didn’t exactly leave much breathing room for grounded, street-level action.

The Infinity Saga was all about gods, titans, and world-ending threats, and even when Peter Parker swung into the picture in Spider-Man: Homecoming, he was still tethered pretty tightly to Tony Stark. Friendly neighborhood vibes, sure, but with Avengers training wheels.

That’s changed in a big way over the last few years. Shows like Hawkeye, Echo, Moon Knight, and especially Daredevil: Born Again have helped flesh out the MCU’s darker alleys.

Now that the Defenders Saga is officially canon, Marvel has a fully loaded street-level sandbox to play in. On top of that, Spider-Man: Brand New Day is shaping up to be a full-on back-to-basics Spidey story, and it’s already confirmed to feature Jon Bernthal returning as Frank Castle, aka the Punisher.

Fans have been asking for Spider-Man and Daredevil to finally share the screen, and Marvel Studios definitely hears that noise.

Things get even more interesting when you look at where Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is headed. Matt Murdock’s war with Mayor Wilson Fisk and his Anti-Vigilante Task Force is far from over, and while many assumed that conflict would wrap up on Disney+, it sounds like Marvel might be thinking much bigger.

According to The Cosmic Circus insider Alex Perez, there’s talk of a major crossover movie inspired by the Devil’s Reign storyline, one that would act as a sort of epilogue to a narrative thread that’s been quietly building since Fisk popped up in Hawkeye.

“I have heard the idea thrown around for the upcoming saga to feature a crossover team-up film that would serve as the epilogue of the Devil’s Reign storyline that technically started all the way back in Hawkeye with the appearance of Wilson Fisk.

“The idea would be to feature street-level heroes from NYC affected by Fisk’s reign of terror against vigilantes, and we would see the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Punisher, and more team up to take down Wilson Fisk and his enforcers in a final bout against the regime.”

There’s another key piece to this puzzle. Perez explains that the big-screen route might be the cleanest way to finally unite these characters with Spider-Man.

“And that said, film is the current path for Spider-Man to be able to appear alongside these heroes,” the insider continued. “This is apparently one of the plans they have in motion to try and get these heroes to appear together.”

If Marvel actually pulls this off, it’s hard to imagine a more crowd-pleasing street-level event. Tom Holland anchoring a gritty crossover with Daredevil and the rest of the Defenders would be a killer draw for general audiences and longtime fans alike. It also raises a big question. Could this effectively be Spider-Man 5 in disguise? That part’s still up in the air.

Not every rumored crossover is moving forward, though. Perez notes that Daredevil and Ms. Marvel won’t be crossing paths anytime soon, and there’s uncertainty around whether a White Tiger TV series is still happening at Marvel Studios.

For now, Daredevil: Born Again returns to Disney+ on March 24, while Spider-Man: Brand New Day swings into theaters on July 31, 2026.
