Yet despite this, and how monstrously big the cast list was, there were (and remain) some glaring omissions when it comes to which actors aren’t confirmed to return. Perhaps the biggest is Mark Ruffalo, who is an MCU mainstay as Bruce Banner.
This has led many to wonder what exactly is the hold-up about confirming his return as the iconic hero in Avengers: Doomsday. Some even speculate that it’s possible that Mark Ruffalo is left out of the cast of an Avengers film for the first time in his tenure as the character, potentially marking a major change for Hulk’s role in the MCU.
Is Mark Ruffalo in Avengers: Doomsday?
Mark Ruffalo was asked about his glaring omission from the Avengers: Doomsday cast during a recent chat with Jimmy Fallon. The actor jokingly said he wasn’t announced because Marvel didn’t want him to return to the franchise, citing his prolific history of spoiling past Avengers films.
“They decided that it was better to get rid of me than for me to tell the end of the next movie.”
Of course, this is all tongue-in-cheek, and it’s likely that Mark Ruffalo will return in some form in Avengers: Doomsday. As for what his role will be, however, is yet to be seen- especially given how big the cast for the upcoming film already is. Though, even if he doesn’t appear, fans are sure he’ll find SOME way to spoil a major reveal.
