Robert Carradine, who you likely know for his role in Lizzie McGuire, has sadly died.
On Monday, the actor’s family released a statement to Deadline which revealed his passing. They said in the announcement:
“It is with profound sadness that we must share that our beloved father, grandfather, uncle, and brother Robert Carradine has passed away. In a world that can feel so dark, Bobby was always a beacon on light to everyone around him.”
The statement continued, revealing Robert sadly died by suicide after a “two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder”:
“We are bereft at the loss of this beautiful soul and want to acknowledge Bobby’s valiant struggle against his nearly two-decade battle with Bipolar Disorder. We hope his journey can shine a light and encourage addressing the stigma that attaches to mental illness. At this time we ask for the privacy to grieve this unfathomable loss. With gratitude for your understanding and compassion.”
So, so sad…

The 71-year-old was a fan-favorite for portraying Lizzie’s dad in the Disney Channel series from the early 2000s. He also made a name for himself when he starred in the Revenge of the Nerds film series, playing one of the nerds Lewis Skolnick. His other credits include Mean Streets, Coming Home, and Escape From L.A.
