Lewis Pullman Comments On ‘Cameo Fest’ Worries For ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Is Avengers: Doomsday all style and no substance? Lewis Pullman speaks out on fears that the MCU’s next film will simply be one big cameo fest.

The MCU has had to walk a tricky tightrope in recent years when it comes to the Multiverse. Many films that have eschewed the concept or used it in unorthodox ways have been considered “unimportant” to the larger saga, while those which have liberally used variants have been called a “cameo fest”. And with Avengers: Doomsday already bringing back a dozen old faces, fans are worried it may be swan diving off the wrong end of that tight rope.

These fears were addressed at recent MCU breakout Lewis Pullman, who will be making his second appearance as Sentry in Avengers: Doomsday. When speaking to Esquire, the actor explained that no character feels wasted in the story, and that every role is more than a simple cameo to smile and wave at the camera.

“It’s going back to the serum of the human archetypes that our art is built off of. Every character has their moment that builds the dimensions of them. The Russo brothers did that so well. They do not want anyone just sitting in the background. They really took to heart the responsibility of having some of the best actors in the world all together.”

New Interactions In Avengers: Doomsday

Of course, when it comes to trying to make every character play a role, many would assume that the Russo Brothers would fall back onto common dynamics to make writing Avengers: Doomsday a bit simpler. However, it seems that Lewis Pullman has seen beyond the curtain, teasing that characters from across the MCU will be interacting for the first time.

“There’s a lot of really exciting pair-ups that happen. A lot of fans will be really excited. It’s so fun to dream about. What if A and B would work together? Would B and D would work together? You get to see a lot of those fantasies come into fruition.”

Very little is known about what role Lewis Pullman will play in Avengers: Doomsday, though reports suggest that the star might be at the core of one of the coolest action scenes in the entire MCU. So at the very least, it seems as though Bob himself won’t become the victim of the “cameo fest” syndrome fans are worried about.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe!
